Hi.

I have an issue with signal in my flat so wanted to install a repeater. Does anyone know who makes the best one on the market?

Can't advise on repeaters I'm afraid - I had a quick search a while ago and the price put me off.
If your flat is in the UK, have you looked at Sure Signal boxes for voda or using UMA on Orange/EE?

You will have to get one from you provider, and they normally work via your phone line (as far as I'm aware).

PROPER GSM repeaters are illegal for personal use unless you have a license (Highly unlikely). They will basically show up as a new cell tower, and can screw up other people's connection if you are not careful. There are reports of people using them, and engineers having to track people down as they were causing cell tower issues.

Not recommended really unless you live out in the sticks or something. (I believe you can be fined).

Get one from your mobile provider and you will be fine :-)

See here (Wiki link so take with salt): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellular_repeater#Approval_in_the_UK_by_Ofcom_and_the_UK_market

Thanks for all the info guys

I'm with vodafone and have a sure signal which is great. Is it worth moving network?

I cant move network as T-Mobile give me free international call so my bills would go back up form £100pcm to £1000 pcm.

however I just spoke to T-Mobile and they also do something that is the same as vodafons sure signal so problem solved.

If you wouldn't mind telling me, is this a business femto they are giving you? I'd be interested in the make/model of the device if it is.

you know, for science :)
