A basic question.If you have a nVdia card that enables Gsycnch,is it of no use if you have a monitor without Gsynch?

correct G-sync can only be used with a g-sync monitor

The Nvidia card will work fine with a monitor that does not have g sync...... I assume this is the answer you are looking for as im not 100% sure of what you mean in your question

Otherwise the other possible answer is - No Nvidias g sync is of no use on a non g sync monitor as it is not g sync enabled.

Thanks.As far as I understand both answers-enabling gsync as an option in the Nvdia card options does not have any effect if the Monitor does not have the gsync feature.I have the Nvdia card set to gysnc 'on' but my ASUS monitor does not have gsync.

Thats right setting g-sync on will have no effect unless used with a g-sync monitor.

Shouldn't even get a G-Sync option if the monitor doesn't support it - enabling it will do nothing if the monitor doesn't support it anyhow.

You could try FastSync in the V-Sync options (not to be confused with FreeSync) and see how you get on with that - with a reasonably powerful GPU it can give some of the benefits of a G-Sync like solution - but you do need to be able to render quite a bit faster than your monitor's refresh rate to really benefit from it.
