GT 1030 DDR4 review ***stay clear of it ***

Looks like a bit of a dog, probably should have been called the 1020.

Not really sure just how it is NVidia that is scamming anyone though, it's the AIB's that decide how to market these things.

That's the same Nvidia who produced GPP so that brands were more transparent :D

This isn't really the first time we see this. They reason why we notice it now, is because for the first time nVidia made a cheap graphcis card that actually is capable of decent gaming.

We've seen GT 710 with DDR3 and DDR5 ram still marketed as the same card but difference performance... and there are loads more when looking at the cheap cards.

Unfortunately NVIDIA have done this time and time again with the budget-mid range cards.

Take advantage of the fact that casual gamers at this end of the market are more likely to not pay the attention to detail. Means a lot will not spot that the 1060 3GB has a SM disabled and less CUDA cores than the 6GB. But don't worry, NVIDIA are so desperate to give transparency to the consumer they thought of the wonderful GPP. ;)

I do despise how anti-consumer NVIDIAs practices are, but can't help but still appreciate their high end cards.

I have the Gigabyte GT 1030 Low Profile 2GB DDR5 and the DDR4 versions and like the tests show it is litterally half the card of the DDR5 version. Frankly my MSI GT 710 2GB DDR3 with a 15% OC on core and vram performs almost the same as the 1030 DDR4... I wonder if a GT 710 or GT 730 with DDR5 and slightly OC will surpass the GT 1030 DDR4 !

970 (3.5gb), 1060 3gb (reduced speed on top of less ram), 1030 (ddr vs gddr). AMD have also done this before I think, but Nvidia does take the micky.

There is nothing wrong with these things provided they are clearly marked, of course that is where the problems arise, because often they are not clearly marked at all. But to be fair that is down to the AIB'S who print the boxes, of course NVIDIA might have not told them to clearly show what the product is, which I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case at all.
