GT:HD.

Thought I was getting a bit tired with the (PS) GT formula.

Lastnight I grabbed GT:HD from the online store.

This morning I've decided I have my own personal name for this bit of software. It's now called 'GT : Delicious'.

Obviously I'm talking about the visuals. The thing is I honestly (really) wanted to try to put my face into the screen and eat bits of the game - it looked that good. (I'm serious, I said this to my girlfriend who rightly thought I was insane).

I've got a Sony 40W2000, it does 1080p. I've got a 360 that has largely impresses me when coupled with the set, had some great experiences. But, seeing a replay of the Ferrari on GT:HD on my TV suddenly made me sit back, check my eyes to make sure they hadn't been replaced by a new alien technology, and then drool. All over my pants.

I went back, took the strange stability control off, and lowered the traction to half power. Then, I had another lap round and realised the drive was so much better like this. I spent another hour or so going round the circuit improving my times, feeling tyres degrade, but mostly watching the replays.

There are some glitches, but I'm glad they put this out at this time for us. It gives me a real hope for the next GT game. Graphically I didn't expect it to impress me this much.

I just want to keep watching the replays. Again, and again, and again, and...

Every car upto the Ferrari I was easily lapping within the required time within around 10 minutes of starting , the Ferrari I have spent a couple of hours on and I still cant get anywhere reasonably near the required time its infuriating.

The game itself is fabulous - the only thing I hate is that I cant see a "faster" time on some parts of the track due to the section time being very similar colour to the sky/ clouds

I thought it looked pretty poor if I'm honest :(

Apart from the replay mode, which looks amazing but then its not hard to make a replay mode to look good

But the actual game just doesnt look very good at all, well, it's not terrible, but certainly not something I'd wanna use to show off my console

Wow. I feel totally the opposite after checking this out. It's the first thing I'd show people!

Yeah, everyone has different tastes.

I just dont think any of the games are worthy of going "Wow you have to see this". But then again, it was the same with the 360 at launch one of the games made me wanna show it off. It was only when Fight Night Round 3 came out that I used to brag about the graphics

Gears of War just set such a high standard for me of what graphics can be like on a console, and since then I'm very hard to please :p

I remember the original GT replay mode looking "real". Like someone said replay modes..."meh"...

Can't wait to see what the Real GT game turns out like.

After playing GT:HD. It burnt any thoughts of did I make the right choice in buying the PS3.

F1 is amazing also

Does anyone know if forza 2 will match up to this? i dont want to fork out money for a new console as i cant afford it :( and i love the GT series they are great.

Totally agree have the same TV and GT HD in 1080P is stunning!!!

Its a shame the demo was so easy (or I have played GT2, GT3 and GT4 too much).

But cant wait for GT5!

but how do the cars handle? i hear the drift physics are really good!

nm the gfx are the physics up to scratch

true.. and i find most car engine noises on games also sound too fake, but maybe its just me

edit: the best reproduced noise from a vehicle is definately the ZX10 on TDU :p i love winding that up.

The replays do look stunning, I always showed people that when I was showing the PS3 to people..

However, it's a single car, with bugger all effects (tyre marks etc), the backdrop is an obvious 2d image.. the people look daft etc..

But the way they present it in replay mode makes you just ignore the obvious bad bits..

Forza 2 is just looking more and more stunning, with the amount of scenery, 60fps, other cars and the awesome physics it is going to set the benchmark graphically and as a simulation..

I think MS could do with launching a couple of tech demo's that have just 1 object etc to show people that it is easily as powerful as the PS3.. but they never do that sort of thing..

GT:HD is stunning. I completed the target tiem for every car on my first go (ASM off, no TC) and got under 900 in ranks for most. It's impossible to get within a 1000 now though :(

I completed the laps first or second time with all the cars apart from the Ferrari, took at least 5 attempts to complete that one.

has the sense of speed got any better? GT3 and 4 felt so slow and boring (although they were great)

Still slow.

I didn't like the demo much, I thought the handling on most the cars was bad (was better with ASM off but still bad), cornering was really slow too.

GT:HD looks decent but for my money it still looks artificial. There is heat bloom and so on but the cars still look like they're just superimposed on the landscape... there's something not quite right about the shadows or something.

I also agree on the "slowness" front.. having played TD:U where you really get a sense of speed playing GT feels really laboured.

The replay and the car models are the only thing i find are regardable as next gen. The replay does indeed look good.

The audio the effects and general track is only Hi Def GT4.

At least its free but we should have had at nothing less than a Prolouge style version at release.

I doubt it as GT HD is incredible...

Forza 2 only uses the most advanced tire simulation program ever created for a game and offering a physics engine of over 300 frames a second with a video framerate of upto 60 frames per second. Of course the highly advanced dynamic lighting and soft shadowing is hardly worthy of being mentioned as is the damage effects. Online market auctions, personal paintjobs and the complete upgrading of over 300 cars.

Just look at it, not a patch on GT HD

There will be dire consequences if you keep exciting me like this...
