GT HD vids

The Lotus vid looks pretty poor to me, background looks okay, but there's nothing dynamic about any of the shadows across the car. The car goes under tree shadows and doesn't change, goes in the tunnel and doesn't change. Guess will have to wait and see what the final version is like, but it'll be a bit pants if they sacrifice stuff like that to get it running nice at 1080p.

Shame about the driving, though it does look nice... I'm just not sure if it's nice enough.

EDIT - Davey has elaborated for me, so I wont bother :).

Looking pretty good, but I agree on the whole with DaveyD. The car seems detached from the scenery completely. No shadows, no reflections and no dust and smoke when you hit the grass. Of course its still a work in progress so I'll reserve judgement.

Nice crowds. I was part of the 'so what I don't watch the scenery when I'm doing 200mph' crowd back when the PGR3 footage started coming out, but when I played it for myself I was very impressed. I wonder if they can get them in the numbers they are in PGR3?

I watched them all now and they looked better then I expected but thats just because usually the video compression wrecks these things.

There are some reflections on the car, if you see the mitsi vid it is more obvious there. Overall I see your point, the crowds are animated (the replay is better) but still things seem static and so on.
The biggest thing I wish they would improve is the sound, it really could count for a lot but its not being developed.

Overall Im still waiting for GT5 and the console price just confirms that

There is no interaction between the car and the enviroment. No smoke, no tyre marks, no shadows etc....
But for level of detail it looks awesome.

Look forward to seeing some higher quality vids though :)

Backgrounds, spectators etc. look very nice, shame it looks like an absolute pig to play though with the GT4 understeer still present.

True true. At this point we can only make points on the graphics and sound. At the end of the day though what truly makes a racing game is its cars and their handling.
