Recently bought this and it seems like a great game, unfortunately I have trouble completing more than a few laps before either the game causes an error or on the odd occasion my PC actually resets itself.

No other games/apps cause issues with my system:

Opteron [email protected]
7800GT
MSI K8N Platinum
2GB Geil Ultra
Using a Logitech Formula Force.

All drivers are up to date and system tested for stability with no issues whatsoever, game is patched up.

Anyone know of any issues with this game that may be causing the trouble?

Cheers!

it is a great game i love it ;)

have you patched the game to 1.10? if you havnt you need too.
that might help. if not have you tried re-installing it?

or checking the GT legents forums...

Bingo. I got the same problem. Froze at various places (usually in the menu before selecting the track) and sometimes in a race.

Go into the options/config menu (the external one) and run in windowed mode. That sorted it out for me after weeks of hassle. :)

Patched re-installed and the forums seem long dead

Sweet, it couldn't be related to Starforce could it?

It's possible, I've got a couple of other Starforce games that run problem free though.

Will give that a shot, that'll mean no v-sync though, better than crashing I guess. Never had a problem in the menu though.

I don't ******* believe this, went out and got GTR2 today to get my driving fix. Exactly the same thing happens.

I've just suffered 2 full system restarts in the space of 10 minutes in GTR2. One of which was in windowed mode.

Do you have Alcohol on your system. I think it was Alcohol that was causing conflicts with Starforce i can't remember but it's mentioned now and bumped so someone else will correct me if wrong.

Nope, no virtual drive stuff like that.

Actually, GTR2 doesn't seem to use Starforce

I would suggest googling for best drivers for GTL then and another Google search for Starforce GTL probs/fixes. The latest drivers may not be best suited to your set up & GTL.

Gaverick makes a good point there and overheating would cause the problems you descibe in the BF2 thread aswell.
What are your CPU & GFX card temps under loads, what's your case cooling like and when was the last time you had a clean out inside your case ?

If it is possible overheating - try running it with the sides off to see if that helps...

Definitely sounds like a stability problem - do you have problems with many other games?

ps3ud0

erm...I think that's someone else mate :)

Nah, it isn't overheating and it's specific to GTL and GTR2 I can't be bothered to install older drivers to get these games working at the risk of upsetting newer games.

I don't think it's a Starforce issue because GTR2 doesn't appear to use Starforce.

Just tried yet another set of drivers...no change, I've had more fun playing Cars on PS2 today than I have in the last week or so with the Simbin games

I have a 5 yr old son btw ;)
