Just got this game and for the first 5 laps i hated it.
Using a PS2 pad and all setting to max at 1600x1200 with 2xAA/AF and it looks stunning.
After i bothered to set up the Pad correctly i must say what a game this is, its as playable if not more than the Gran T series.
The feel of the cars is just right and the graphics are bang on.
If you like driving games then get this.

Wow if it is as good as GT4 might well be worth a look, love that game :)

Games better than GT4?

You could try, like, ANY of the main PC racing games.

Try the Live for Speed demo, rFactor, GTR etc. All highly recommended and quite different.

LFS all the way tbh! :D

They're really not comparable; they're both made for different markets and are completely different games.

The fact that the OP is using a pad for this game makes me cry, let alone baby jesus. But, whatever floats your boat :)

With the right controller it's a fantastic game.

I have to say that this is one argument i will Not accept anyone elses opinion.
Console racers against PC racers pfffffffff.
Anyone that puts them in the same field is just Misguided. Harsh i know but true nonetheless.
PC racers combined with a good wheel are a league apart from console arcade type drivers.

GT legends is a top online racer with good physics and a good variety of cars and tracks. For ease of play GTL wins hands down as its just a case of CD in Patch and away you go. The cars handle how you would expect them to and there are plenty of public servers with peeps on to race.

RFactor for me is Number one though. For many reasons but mainly because of the feel and feedback you get from the game. With GTL it's more about balance and racing on the limit is quite comfortable. On RF you are on the edge with blinding speed and superb braking. It's pure white knuckle racing that gets the heart going and palms sweating.
Mods are released for RF weekly and most are brilliant additions to your garage. Currently the F1 Champions mod and the Lienz festival of speed mods are the ones to have.
Unfortunetly the number of mod releases does cause its own problems though, namely the fractured community and constant searches for the correct mod/track.
Using RSC forums though and one or two friends you can soon own and race the best online racer out there and that is Rfactor.

And O.P. the thought of you using a controller other than a wheel makes me and my Frank staffy dog cry like girls.
I have only known one dude who can race better with a controller than a wheel and he is a blatant freak. :p
Get a wheel and a few other games you will not regret it.
PC driver must have list.
GT Legends.
RFactor.
Richard Burns Rally.

Welcome aboard.

GTL is great but it is also buggy, I am at Challenge Cup C now and 3 out of the 5 challenges are busted for me and will not load, I just get a CTD when I try to start them. I have no idea how I am supposed to fix this either.

Backup your save games and uninstall/reinstall, I had 1 race where all the opponent cars spawned in the same grid slot, made the start of the race quite funny, the next race in the series CTDed, reinstalling the game cleared the issues up for me.

I only compared the playability, not the games themselves.
Both are very enjoyable to play in their own ways.
And people, dont go getting all nerdy cos im currently using a PS2 Joypad, any more of that and i'll revert to using the keyboard :p

yup my favourite cars in GTL are the Cortina - Escort and the CAPRI is just sexy, serioulsy making me go out and find a decent 2.8 capri, and just restore it with a few mods (bigger brakes a must, hehehe)
If only the game had a Capri 3.0S then we could finally answer the question, 2.8i or 3.0S in a race.

I had a '88 E plate 2.8(not brooklands) and love that sound from the v6,oh and the joy of going sideways everywhere. Tailend happy is an under statement. :)
