Hi Guys,

I have ditched taking the gtx option after advice given in a previous thread.

Background info:

system is a HP prebuilt 6325.

Allendale E4500 @2.2GHZ
3gb of 667mhz ram
Nvidia 8500GT
Motherboard is an asus, but not common model as built for hp i believe

Im looking at two graphics variants.

The first is the:

Point of View GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI

The second is a choice of either of the below:

OcUK GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI
Leadtek GeForce 8800 GT ZL OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI

The question is this-

Im going to put a 3ghz wolfdale into this system (think the ram will be ok as its half the fsb of the cpu? any point in jumping to 800mhz ram?)

Please bear in mind im not a mega gamer, i play the sims 2, san andreas, and test drive unlimited!

My brother may play cod4 on it but thats the limit.

Is it worth going up to the gts on my system? Will i notice the difference between that and the gt? My monitor is only 19"@1440x900.

If the gt is recommended will i notice anything between the oc leadtek one compared to the ocuk one at stock?

Sorry for the short novel chaps but thought it best to explain the whole situation!

Hope someone with a bit more experience than me can contribute.

Thanks in advance all

My Best Regards

Lee

PS: also planning for a corsair 520w psu as the current is a bestec 300w!

I would get a 8800GT and upgrade the PSU. Also have you checked if your board will support the wolfdale ?

For your needs a 9600GT is probably more than enough? It even outperforms 8800GT by a tiny margin in COD4. But for the small price difference you might as well go for the OCUK value 8800GT.

No need for a GTS at all.

Are you sure your motherboard will support a wolfdale?
