Have the most annoying problem, sorting out the next doors PC for a favour and its turning into a nightmare.
It's only an amd64 3000 so not particularly fast but it's just for media centre use so not a problem. Well it had a 9600GT which was fine in itself but the lack of hdmi let it down, so replaced this with a GT620 with hdmi, but every time I installed the drivers for it the pc goes into slow mode, much much slower than when the card is running in VGA driver mode, also no sound drivers are being installed.
Have reinstalled win7 just in case even though both cards are nvidia, tried driver cleaner everything, the only thing I can possibly think of is PSU but you would think the 9600GT would draw more power anyway and that runs fine, only other option is card is faulty but seems unlikely.
Does anyone have any answers as I have spent hours on it as the PC takes so long to do anything.

you need to determine whats slow. Is it the HD ? does it need a good defrag ? Is it the CPU ? What speed is it running. Check that the AMD CPU drivers are installed.

Disk space ? Enough ? Page file ? what size ? Is it allocated enough.

usually with old PC's they dont like upsetting. Change one thing and they moan like crazy and do something unexpected. Might sound funny but its true.

If you put the 9600gt back in is it still slow ?

Sorry it's a 9500GT just put it back in and PC runs fine not a lot of good as we need HDMI for audio pass through to the amp

Yeah it worked quite well for a media PC just want HDMI, don't get me wrong it's not a games machine he only wants to watch MKV files so doesn't need much in the way of power

Changed to a 6670 now have sorted the slowing down out but now have the problem of no audio over HDMI.
Can't win today
