GT86/GR86/BRZ

Day 1 Summary time:

So, the issues/annoyances I have experienced so far are listed below:
  1. Coolant was nowhere to be seen, supposedly due to an airlock. Which absolutely should have been checked by themselves before handing the car back to me.
  2. Once I brought this up, they took the car in to "have a look" and dropped it off outside the door for me. Not being absolutely satisfied I decided to give it another check. It was now 3-4" above the "FULL" marker.
  3. Underside of the bonnet covered in oil/dirt with some scratching where paint has been removed. Presuming they have put this on the floor somewhere whilst they worked on the car.
  4. Increased noise from injectors or valves, sounds like tappets.
  5. Throttle Body/Inlet Manifold making loud electrical whine and scraping noise when actuating the throttle. May be there from usual but definitely comes across as being louder.
  6. Airbox no longer seems fully connected to the front scoop under the bumper.
  7. Air Filter has not been changed in the £335 service. Still dirty and remains in the car, this is in the service guidelines as due replacement every 3 Years/30k. This is the 6 Year service so should have been replaced.
  8. Car has been "Washed" and came out a lot dirtier than when I brought it in.
  9. Charged £171 labour for Rear Differential Oil which should be changed every 20k/4 Year. It's on 42k so should have been changed, but this is not on the description of "Goods / Services", rather just an Oil Filter, Spark Plugs and Screenwash that I didn't ask for.
Not happy at all and need to think about writing a complaint asking for a portion, if not all of my money back. Will be going straight to head office should I receive nothing that satisfies me. Considering these are things I have found on day one I dread to think if there's anything else that may have been missed. Especially given the amount of engines that have gone bang after this.

Overall, if anyones near Newcastle/Sunderland area. Do not take your car to Toyota Wearside.

The cabin filter and air filter are replaced every service on mine major or minor and I'm paying a lot less for dealer servicing than you are. The major service includes spark plugs and since I had a K&N engine filter they gave me the OEM one in a box to do with as I wanted.

If the car is 5 years old you can sign up to the "5+ club" for more discounts too (20% off services and MOT). Which is quite a lot off on the services.

Toyota seem to want people to keep their cars. The German manufacturers seem to pester you to buy another one before it blows up :p

Local dealer used to put my details in the pile for the newbies to call, I was the training session for what a bad customer is. Used to get a call every 6 months from a new fella telling me they'd got the latest and greatest in their showroom ready for me to test drive. They've stopped calling me now as I used the opportunity to book the car in for more warranty work.

Nah its because the germans sell plenty, toyota need to keep the mugs in them who bought them as they know most people won't ;)

Not sure Toyota are worried about that lol. It's the biggest selling car brand globally and is growing faster than the Germans ;)

I meant in the UK. Im not sure how relevant a sale in Indonesia is in regards UK buyers to be honest.
Toyota is 4.33% of UK sales, I think 6th or so place
Summary, more discerning drivers in the UK ;)

Toyota only just beat Kia ;)

Received a very sympathetic call this morning from the Aftersales Manager of the dealership.

Car is going back in on Tuesday morning for me to have a chat with the mechanic and manager where I can discuss what I want sorting. They are then going to give me a courtesy car and completely re-do the 6 Year Service (apart from spark plugs).

Interested to see how this goes, may restore a bit of faith in them. Time will tell

Just dreading being stuck with the Corolla again :( Just want to take my car for a drive knowing it's not going to go pop!

I believe that's right yeah. You can also get them from ebay for £140 I believe off WG Motorparts :)

My car's been listed for sale today. Found a lovely S3, just hoping I can be the first to nab it as the dealership selling has a first come first serve policy in which there's no reserving a vehicle :)

Ok thanks, I'll check eBay out.

I saw a 2017 S3 saloon the other day, it looked pretty cool in blue.
