GTA 5, how do you get this game to run smoothly ?

i couldn't see a way to cap it, so instead i turned everything to "on" and put everything up to Very High, and put 2x on and density to half way to give it a bit of somethiong to do to try and cap it

and i ran the benchmark again , and that was fine, smooth, no stutter at all

can someone confirm that there are no benchmark results at the end ?

I will do more testing tomorrow

Benchmark results are stored in a file somewhere.

Game craps out at high FPS, cap it at 120-140 for best results.
 
just throwing this out there with nothing to back it up, but maybe it's doing the same thing arma does where lowering settings can make performance worse as it thinks your gpu isn't up to the task so it chucks everything at the cpu?

might also explain why upping the settings smooths it out.
