hey, i recently bought a asus 5850 directCU gfx from here. went 2 play gta and i get a very bad perfomance from the gfx card, using 10.5 drivers since 10.6 made all my games have blackscreen =/

my specs are:-

Processor:
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor 3.2ghz OC'd - 3.8ghz
Memory:
4096MB RAM
Hard Drive:
1 TB total
Video Card:
ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series
Monitor:
SyncMaster T220/T220G,SyncMaster Magic T220/T220G(Digital)
Operating System:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Motherboard:
ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO
Computer Case:
CM Storm Scout

Does anyone have the same problem?
 
GTA 4 has always been a hard to run game on the PC. If you dig out the original GTA 4: episodes thread which was meant to be about the game, all people talk about is performance and specs.
 
Have you overclocked your card more?
I have the same card and get very very poor fps (we're talking 7-12fps) if I have the card overclocked at all. Card works fine overclocked on other games though.
 
i ran driver sweep and got rid of all drivers in safe mode, then reinstalled 10.5 drivers back. seems fine now like 60 fps + with the same settings :)

EDIT: yes i have overclocked the card, 850 core 1200 mem

+1 also I'am using all off the 1gb Memory on gpu, would this game use all off the other 1GB memory in second GPU "I have 2 in SLI" btw in the settings all I can see is 1gb memory on setting performance etc.

BTW I'am using the mod car pack and dont have problems like visuals catching up as my mate does.

SLI/Crosffire doesn't work like that. The memory on each card mirrors the other one so 2x1gb =1gb
 
ah right thanks, although have just noticed this from a nvidia forum user "can i post that link?"

GTA-IV settings:

(I use "-availablevidmem 1.8 -memrestrict 629145600" in my "commandline.txt" file to bump the available memory beyond what the GTX-295 physically has)

what does that mean to the mirroring that SLI etc users.
 
back again, its really odd issue im having. after i install the 10.5 driver all games run fine, BUT after i restart my pc my gfx card is only using 50% ish usage, i did the benchmark in bogt and its 13 average fps. PC specs is in the first post, starting 2 get ****ed at this since i spent £255 on a card when my old card (9600gt) is out performing it since these problems =/
 
What PSU do you have? You might be focusing on drivers too much for the cause of your problem.
