GTA: Episodes from Liberty City

Have they made performance improvements? If not, I really can't be bothered. Still runs like a complete dog for me

The title update will be available for download through Games for Windows – Live very soon, at which time I will update the forum. We will also be hosting a downloadable version on our support site. Rockstar Games Social Club

• Remove Rockstar Games Social Club application

• Separate RGSC application no longer required to launch game

• Social Club login now occurs during the launch process


Shadows

• A new, less memory-intensive, and better-looking scalable shadow solution has been implemented

• Enhanced Night Shadows added with user-selectable level of detail (replaces Shadow Density)


Performance

• Rendering optimizations have been made to improve performance, particularly when enabling shadows

• User-configurable graphics settings have been added for shadow control

• Improved memory management


Multiplayer

• Enhanced security to isolate users from cheaters and hackers


Episodic Content

• Provide in-game support to purchase "The Lost and Damned" and "The Ballad of Gay Tony" (Not available in Russian/Japanese Versions)


Bug Fixes

• Vehicle shadows re-enabled between 8pm and 6am

• Fix floating street textures

• Pedestrians in vehicles appear further out from the player to allow for long range sniping

• The Moon has been implemented with simulated lunar phases

• Fixed garbled text in Japanese Multiplayer menus

• "RESC 10" error fix for specific hardware configurations

Wow that sound pretty great!
GTA4 was amazing game especially for its extremely well realized game world, I have Episodes preordered already, cannot wait for Gay Tony especially.
Good to see they are implementing the changes from Episodes into original game too.
 
Pre orderd with my discount points so got it cheap. Im looking forward to playing it as I played a small part of gay tony on 360 and what little I played was awesome :D

Mmmmm.... I wonder if these means the game will run on anything lower than a quad core, specifically a tri core ;)

Shadows look awesome now. The old ones were so bad!

Game seems smoother too, and that's including me having taken off my OC for now, so Q6600 at 2.4. Lowest framerate is about the same or lower than when at 3.2, but that's to be expected. It seems less jerky now.

Anyone tried multiplayer?
 
yup, massive improvement on shadows. i'm playing at medium settings due to low specs but this looks infinitely better than it did before.

Yup, the shadows now look pretty damn awesome. Cant say the performance has improved much (seems about the same). Either way, good to see the continued support :)
 
Ha, nothings free anymore then I guess. Think I'll preorder just now from steam as £20 ain't bad and GTA4 was one of the more enjoyable games of the last few years for me.
 
Anyone running the Steam version and have the new update running? I've tried 3 times now and get the same error when starting the game "Sorry but this version of gtaiv.exe is not supported".
