sorry, its yet another ZOMG help me mod xxx thread. please just bear with me on this. i'm using the steam version of GTAIV updated to version 1.0.7.0 (which could be the problem, not sure)

*edit*
See post three for current problem

*original problem* (sorted now)
a while ago i installed the realistic handling mod because it looked like the asiest to get working, and i was right, it all worked first time :)

however ive now installed the HD road textures mod by DKT70 (found from here: http://icelaglace.wordpress.com/) and it has seriously messed up the mission i am on. i think the mission is called shadow, its an early mission from little jacob where you have to follow a drug dealer through some alleyways.

when i get to the top floor of the appartment i have followed him into all the textures are missing, all of that floor is completely invisible. any way of fixing this, or am i going to have to uninstall the mod for that mission?

thanks for helping a noob out :)

*edit*
main reason im asking for help is because i cant find any info about the mod anywhere (my googlefu is weak)

TBH i've been getting random disappearing textures and my game ain't even modded, i know the exact mission you mean on mine the entire staircase turned invisible while working my way to the top. Think it just might be a buggy game. On another cut scene (rendered with the game engine) it was raining and some of the rain drops turned into red stars .

Disappearing textures seem to be common place for me but luckily they usually only last milli seconds then pop back into place.

ah, good to know its not the mods. i meant to say that about an hour after this post i went back to the mission and had no problems with it. what could have caused it is that i tripped up about a second after roman called me, cancelling the phonecall without pressing hang up. i think that the phone is what spooks the dude your following.
whatever the problem was, when i did spook the guy everything went well :)

however, i now have another problem, i cant seem to find any of the modded cars ive replaced in game. this is exactly what ive done:

1. download mods i wanted
2. download sparkIV
3. using sparkIV, replace the futo.wft and futo.wtd files for the mini cooper mod, reassemble vehicle file, save vehicle file, then run game
4. realise ive forgotten to change the handling.dat, carcols, dat and vehicles.ide files
5. using notepad alter then save the three files as prompted by the readme
6. boot up GTAIV
7. hunt for car for a good 10 mins in an area the car it replaces is supposed to spawn in frequently
8. give up, close game
9. using sparkIV, replace the vincent.wft and vincent.wtd files for the Mazda RX8 mod, reassemble vehicle file, save vehicle file
10. change and save the handling.dat, carcols, dat and vehicles.ide files as prompted using notepad
11. hunt for car for a good 10 mins in an area the car it replaces is supposed to spawn in frequently
12. find banshee and bring back to saved vehicles space (nothing to do with RX8 or mini mod
13. using sparkIV, replace the banshee.wft and banshee.wtd files for the Doddge viper SRT10 mod, reassemble vehicle file, save vehicle file
14. change and save the handling.dat, carcols, dat and vehicles.ide files as prompted using notepad
15. run game
16. find that mod has worked successfully on car in garage.
17. drive round for two mins then close game then come here for help

i am using the realistic driving and flying mod v2.7 with a spawn rate changing thing, which COULD be the problem, but im not sure because you have to change some of that stuff anyway. i will try with the standard files tomorrow (today)

if anyone could give me any other ideas for fixes that would be great :)

i am using version 1.0.7.0 of GTAIV
i am using the latest non beta version of sparkIV that was designed for GTAIV (not the SFLC version)

try using the trainer program, you can spawn any car in the game that way, you can also save upto 20? 30? custom cars if memory serves :)

i've got some version of that downloaded, however, to install the mod i need the .net scripthook thing .... and to install that i need something else, so i think i'll give it a miss for a while.

the good news is i fixed the problem. turns out the replacement data for the handling.dat, carcols.dat and vehicles.ide files was formatted wrong. a few tabs and spaces later and i now have a mazda RX8, mini cooper and dodge viper all working properly :)
