I'm thinking of buying GTA IV for the PC - fairly cheap at the moment & I have an Xbox360 controller to use.

I've not followed the patches, or the progress of the game on the PC at all, so I'm just wondering if all the problems have been sorted yet?

Have they made the game as good on the PC as it is on the Xbox360/PS3?

Craig.

I'd say it was better on the PC by miles, plus you have a good enough PC to play it pretty nicely. If you don't have it already and can get it fairly cheaply on the PC it's well worth a play through or two. Lots of fun.

The only problem i encounted was a patch issue other than that lots of fun! however the multiplayer has the usual naps lol

ive completed it 4 times, running through my 5th go, as long as your system is good (which clearly is) you should be fine, make sure you use the latest nvidia drivers and patch ;)

some good mods out for it, i have evo's, skyliners, porsche you name it on my gta :D

With your PC spec the game should run fine Craig321, and look a dam site better than 360 version. This game is very CPU dependent, my former Q6600 @ 3.6 or even 3.2GHz was enough for over 30fps :)

yes, it is more cpu dependant, i have the same processor as sean and it the game sucked at stock (2.4ghz) - overclocking the heck out of it instanly gained 15fps or so :)

Does anyone know if there is a patch to change the way the camera works with Niko? I hate the way the camera always auto-centers, I wish it worked more like the Crackdown camera where you can put it at and angle and it just sticks there. If there was a mod for the camera like this I'd definitely double dip and buy the PC version.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, I think I'll be buying it within the next few days :)

Judging by the FPS that you guys have been getting I'm guessing the game is designed to run at 30FPS?

Craig.

i think the game is great on PC... only annoying thing is the Multiplayer menu is awful.. it;s real pain in the arse to get into the game you want.... sometimes it creates a new game, or I get dumped into some random game i didn't want...

anyone got any tips on that?

PC version is the best of all, only trouble is all the bloatware rubbbish that installs itself (Rockstar Social Club/Windows Live).

The only thing I'd say is that you might have a problem running all the settings at their highest potential, then with the distances you'd only be set to mid level, this is if you use 1680x1050.

i got this game running on my on a low spec pc ad 5000 with a gf 7950 it only just about runs but anything higher should be fine. The game is amazing and the onlything i hated is the amount of anoying things you have to sign up for just to play the game and all the stuff you have to install. Ideally just want to buy a game and stick it in an play not be forced to download rockstar and windows live and things. otherwise its ok it will work just the sign up to play sucks.

Should run fine as you have a Quad, and this games loves CPU's, and it also runs better on Nvidia cards, i get just over 60 avg on my 4870 at Very High Settings, View distance on 20, detail distance 100, vehicle density on 30 (or whatever its called), as to High theres to much traffic you can't move, its like trying to drive in Londons rush hr :D, and Shadows maxed 16 (i only use those slider settings to keep the memory usage under, in the Green).

On my old rig at much lower settings, i was only avg 34 (a Core2Duo, but same gfx card). :p

Yeah it seems to be made for 30 fps, however it looks great running at higher fps, you can really see how smooth the animations are. with your specs you'll have no problem bumping everything up and still get high fps.
