GTA IV product key

A few months ago, my steam GTA IV product key said that I had used up all my activations too many times, when I log into Windows Live in the game. So I finally got up the arsedness to get a new copy, and it doesn't actually require steam. If I download GTA IV in steam like normal, but use my disk product key, will that upset steam? Or should I use my disk copy as a non steam version? I would quite like to continue racking up hours on GTA IV lol.

The DRM with activation limits here is Securom you need to deactivate (revoke its called) it before uninstalling. You can do what you want with regards to Steam Securom is the thing keeping track of how many times & GFWL ensures you use the same gamertag.

You did not even need to buy another copy all you had to do was revoke it & or contact R* support to ask for another activation!

not possible. you can't use the key from a retail disk with steam.

Any old GFWL game key will work with GTA 4 anyway!
