GTA IV Trophy - One man army

Well... I completed the story mode earlier and have been working my way through trophies. Just noticed that this one:

One man army - You survived a 6 star wanted level for a full 5 minutes.

And my face went from :) to :(

Is there any way to do this, now that the story mode is complete? One suggestion was to hole myself up in an internet cafe, type in the website monitored by the FIB and get a 5 star wanted level. Keep shooting oncomers until it goes to 6 star and then just hold out for 5 minutes.

I tried this, but got swamped by the armed police and didn't last very long.

Alternatively, could I start a new game, drive underground on the metro into a different district, then just sit tight there for a few minutes? I hear that this is how a lot of people have done it, but will I be able to go back to my old save and everything?

Any help appreciated!
 
can be done on foot :)

Trophys/Achievements aren't tied to a save so start a new game. Head to the Algonquin bridge (middle one) and walk up onto the bridge. Either the walkway down the middle or the road will do fine.

Walkway: Make your way to ~3/4's way across. Should get 6 stars. If not fire a gun to make sure :)

Road: Go to the police blockade on the right side (Northern edge of bridge). Turn 90 degrees right, jump over the edge and land on the el train tracks. walk to Algonquin.

Simples! :D
 
I'll give that a shot tomorrow then!

Shouldn't take too long with a new game either.
 
I did it by...

Sniping a driver of a boat, swimming over to it.

Then went to manhatten before I unlocked it, I think that was an instant 6 stars then just kept running and stealing cars!
 
I did it by getting in a car and driving it on to the train tracks - driving up through Hove Beach station as it's all ramps. You can easily get on the tracks there. Then following the tracks round, over the Algonquin bridge which takes you to the subway system in Algonquin. Coppers never come down there if you stay by the tramps and don't venture near to the stations. :D
 
I did it entirely accidentally when I stole a helicopter, flew over to the third island before I unlocked it and sat on top of a building for 5 minutes shooting at the helicopters :p
 
It's easy. All I did was play the game through until the second island was unlocked but the 3rd was still locked. I then went to the tour helicopters, grabbed one then flew over to the then-locked 3rd island and got 6 stars. Just keep flying around nice and high hassle-free and the cops don't come near you at all. Literally no effort required at all.
 
I did it in the subway. Picked a nice long stretch of track and camped out near the tunnel entrance. Hid behind a post and just plugged away at people and cops until I hit my 6 stars. Blasted away until I guessed I was near my 5 minute mark (make sure you're stocked on ammo!), then headed down the tracks. It took awhile, but eventually cleared the 6-star wanted zone and was home free (total time ended up being 14 minutes, if I recall correctly). :)
 
I did this by getting my wanted level up to 6* then going into one of my apartments and chilling out for 5 minutes - cant remember which but one of the easiest methods around :)

"You have a safe house outside of Middle Park in Algonquin. Stock up on weapons and ammo (be sure to grab armor), then go to it. You can grab a few big cars for cover, but that's unnecessary. Shoot a few random civilians to get a cop to appear, then shoot him for 3 stars. A chopper will appear, and you can RPG that down for possibly 4 or 5 stars. Through any means, get 4 or 5 stars, then head inside. Don't go upstairs, just take cover on the left side (as you enter), at the top of the stairs.

Pick off the cops as they enter the doors to get a 6-star rating. Any method you use to get 6 stars is alright, it's this part that's important. Go to the yellow arrow icon to teleport upstairs. You will now be in your loft, and in the search radius, but completely out of reach to the cops. Just hang out for 5 minutes."

I done it by having a massive shoot out with the cops @ st francis airport in the car park was good fun! Was trying to do this today with Ballad of gay tony on a different profile and am having trouble getting six stars lol.
 
If you go in the hospital down one of the corridors, hide at the end and pick off anyone that comes in (eventually turns into SWAT etc) that's also fun.
