Ive downloaded the XP version but it still does the same a the origional one. It stutters bad like ive got a 486 or something but then i press F11 (framelimiter) and it goes about 100x too fast. How do i get it to play at normal speed?

I do. I don't think there was a proper fix, but maybe there's a fake CPU speed program. I can't remember if I worked it out when I tried last year. Good luck!

do you have the full freeware version? because that is "optmised for modern machines" or do you mean you have the unofficial XP fix for it?

you can get gta 1 + 2 for free and optimised for modern machines of their site (god bless them)

I can't speak for the original gta but gta 2 off there works fine. on my machine.

Failing that you could get a program like moslow or something which is for slowing now older dos/ win3.11 games down to run them on modern machines.

start->run->dxdiag

turn sound acceleration down to basic or none and iirc the stuttering stops. Long time ago though so I'm not 100%.

Obviously not an amazing solution as you'll probably want it turned up most of the time.

YES YES YES. thanks about the sound acceleration advice. I did it before mind but only to no acceleration. Basic sorts it out. As a token of my appreciation have this!
