GTA: San Andreas Controller Help

Hi

Have reinstalled GTA:SA as it's a good 'summer game' but am having problems getting my xbox360 controller to work with it as the analogue sticks don't do what they should. Any ideas what I can do?

What version of San Andreas is it 1, 1.1, or 2?
If is 1 then u can use a program called Saac which will aloow you to configure the controls (not to sure if it works for the xbox 360 controller)
