i'm on the final mission/s- the stage where you got to take over 35% of the other gangs territories, the most i can do is approx 20% before i get ambushed by gangs, cops and exploding cars.
it's doing me nut in, can someone give me some gameplay tips please.
 
3 things.

go back to that ranch in the desert (cant remember the guys name, the one you did missions for). because you've finished his missions there's a nice minigun. just use the nearby save point so the gun spawns again and you can collect loads of ammo. you can mow down loads of people from far away in seconds with this.

and secondly, when going about on the gang wars use a police car/taxi. this way when your hood comes under attack simply start a vigilante/taxi mission and that cancels the attack. now give up the mission and you can get back to the killing. :D

and save regularly. :)

edit: just re-read your post about the exploding cars. you really should acquire the gang territory before doing the "riot" mission. hope you've got an earlier save. :p

1. body armour
2. lots of guns with decent range
3. hide behind none exploding things, (walls or something) and wait for them to come to you

iirc they don't come from all around, just 1 or 2 directions, i remember doing one where i was stood in the middle of a long bridge and they came from either end, i was able to kill them before they could even shoot me

If you can't find any gang members to kill to start the war, block the road and some should show up in cars.
 
i've 100% taken over all the gang territories. bit of a grind but at least it stops the hood coming under attack for good. :D
