GTA: San Andreas Online Problem

hi all, just downloaded the digital copy of San Andreas from GameFly as i wanted to try this game out with a friend.

i know that the SAMP lets you play online with mods and stuff, but when i try to install it, i can't seem to install it into the GTA game folder.

does SAMP only work if you have the actual CD?

this is the folder where it is installed.
but none of them mentions anything to do with multiplayer

also, is there a way to play it on 1080p?

EDIT:

The Steam and Direct2Drive versions of GTA:SA are not currently supported and cannot be downgraded.
