trying to find a - legal - download link for GTA, the first of the series, all the links I've found so far seem to be either unavailable or full of toolbars and the usual cack, can anybody point me to a working link please?
I'm after an installable version rather than browser based (assuming browser based versions exist!)

I think I got it a while ago from the Rockstar link however there was something that did not work correctly with it so deleted it.

I would also like to find a working version of GTA1 with original CD music tracks

quality, fantastic tracks such as Joyride

Not exactly what your after. Considered the Ps1 version? it's a little slower, but decent enough, one I own:o

Gl with your search anyhow, it must be floating round on some site if it were once available on gratis. Rockstar couldn't have swept them all up.
 
Music definitely made the game. That's probably why I dont really like gaming now.

I would advise buying the original or searching for the full original ISO if just for the music tracks

This was also a great track - Retrograde - Benzoate

I would bother with the steam version, I doubt it will have audio tracks included.

Ive just remembered I may have the big box version with poster still at home. Will check in a week when im going back to my parents

edit - I have the steam version - installing now and will let you know if it works with music
 
The steam install is 366mb and contains 10 tracks of music (311mb)

I'm sure the original had 20 tracks though (as in the youtube clip above)

Apart from playing in 1600x1200 best or 1024x768 though, the game works fine. Just had a quick blast around in the Beast GTS...

Do I have to buy it on steam? -not at my pc at present- I have all the other GTA games bar this one (excluding an old PS1 copy somewhere!)
