I haven't had much time to play gta 5 at the moment but so far I love it. The trouble I am having is when I load up the game for the first time it seems to freeze after about 10 minutes on my 360 slim. Usually whilst driving around to my next mission. I know there has been a lot of fuss on the internet about the game freezing on older consoles but I haven't found anything about it freezing a slim. When it freezes I press the guide button on my 360 and I can hearths guide come up but nothing happens. I then turn of the console which takes a couple of seconds after pressing the button to turn off. When I restart it the game seems to play fine for at least 20 - 30 minutes (longest I have had chance to play it for solidley) has anyone else experienced this problem on an xbox 360 slim? And found a solution?
Thanks.

Have you tried the following that xbox support recommends ?

1. Delete all GTA 5 game data.
2. Clear system cache three times.
3. Delete marketplace data from storage system items.
4. Unplug console for three minutes.
5. Install disc 1.
6. Power off, do not insert disc 2.
7. Restart.
8. Install disc 2.
9. Play.

Just a little update. Unfortunately that method above hasn't worked for me. I'm gonna try and install disc 2 onto my hdd and see if that works.

I am pretty sure installing disc 2 is not recommended by Rockstar, due to issues with textures etc.

The workaround is installing disk 2 onto a USB

As above.

Dont install the 2nd Play disc onto the HDD along with the 1st Install disc, it causes bad texture pop in and lag. It will make your issue worse. It could be your disc drive causing the problem, maybe the drive is dying. A good way to test/get around this is to install the 2nd play disc to a USB Stick. I did a post about it here:

Is your console in a well ventilated area? I'd imagine GTA V pushes the hardware a lot harder than any previous game. Otherwise you might have a bit of a faulty console?

Oops sorry I didn't know I would have anymore replys. No it's still freezing. I installed the play disc to the hdd only to rule out the cd drive but it still froze so I presume my dc drive is fine, I have also deleted the play disc from my hdd now. For some reason it only seems to happen whilst I'm roaming the map in a car in free play. Whilst in a mission it doesn't seem to happen. Is my xbox just dieing or could it be the game?
