How were GTA IV's physics terrible? Do you know what happens in RL when you try to corner (sharply) at 60 MPH in anything other than a racing car?

GTA IV happens, that's what.

Did you ride any bikes in GTA V? Have you ridden any bikes in RL? The bikes are (somehow) even worse.

Also the damage model in IV was better too. Vehnicles in V don't sustain heavy damage even if driven off a cliff. The worst that happens in that case is you might lose a door or your bumper.

Yes.

You seem to confuse fun with simulation. I don't play GTA for the car handling, I play it for the fun. If i'd want something proper i'd Play Gran Turismo or Asetto Corsa.

You're missing the whole point here.

GTA IV's driving was fantastic :).

It actually look me quite a long time to get used to GTA V because the car handling felt a little more arcade-y.

Yeah. It's fine that some people prefer it, but we should all be able to agree it's significantly dumbed down. Cars don't roll, don't have inertia or momentum (you can't ram a lighter vehicle out of the way with a heavier one), don't sustain enough damage... the list goes on!

"Oh, I've got a wanted level in a game called Grand Theft Auto, I better get out of here, quickly! Oh no, I just drove into another car, right at the beginning of the chase, the cops are right on my tail now, i'm going to get busted!"

It just doesn't work in the context of the game. It's not supposed to be realistic, if it was, it just wouldn't work.

I love how cars handle in GTA V now, really, its great. It's all about getting used to it, and they are all relative to each other so it's fine.

Besides, real criminals has an attack helicopter on speed dial that comes with missiles...cars? what cars? :D

In my opinion GTA V isn't a driving simulator at all. It's a sandbox mayhem simulator that happens to feature cars, often as weapons.

GTA V is about driving at 150mph through a narrowing gap between two cars waiting at the traffic lights, slamming into a bus crossing the intersection, spinning fifteen times, shaking your head, laughing it off, and then driving off at 150mph (in the same car), jumping off a ramp over a freeway, controlling the spin of your car so that you loop twice and land on the roof of a skyscraper, getting out of the car and base jumping onto a moving train, from which you launch grenades at a passing police car, and watch with satisfaction as it's fireball leaves the road and causes a domino-effect explosion in the car-park of a family diner.

Realism wouldn't be compatible with the fun of doing all that.

GTA V's driving model wasn't as bad as I expected (i.e. like San Andreas or Vice City) and I actually don't mind it now, but it was more 'stupid' than GTA IV's. No-one is going to claim GTA IV's driving model is meant to be legitimately realistic, but it was a good balance between fun and something that required a little skill. GTA V does require a little skill; it just requires less than GTA IV.

GTA V's driving isn't bad; it just isn't as good as its predecessor's.

Anyway, I haven't played GTA V for ages. I think I'm at around 50% completion. At this point I may as well just wait for the PC release to catch up on my enormous backlog, which probably won't happen still as I always get sucked into League of Legends with my mates...

I love the fact they have treated us all like idiots and you all still want it. I have no issue with a late release but not even a word after all this time.................
