Possibly quite niche as I doubt many people have given GTA2 much thought in years, but one of the people involved in the making of the game has recently posted most (if not all) of the full-length, full quality songs from the in-game radio stations:

There's also lyrics and some interesting tidbits of information in the descriptions, including one which suggests at one point the game wasn't going to be called GTA at all:

I do miss the days of the GTA series using original music, it made sense considering nothing else real-world was in there.

Not sure if it worked with GTA2 but with GTA1 the music was encoded in standard 16bit 44.1kHz PCM ('redbook' format) so that you could throw the game disc into any normal CD player and listen to the tracks, and some were proper bangers too. Which is especially awesome because when I wanted to listen to them a couple years ago all I had to do was buy a used GTA1 disc and rip the music to FLAC on my computer.

I would like local copies but the audio quality on youtube is not sufficient to use for archival purposes (audio on videos is 128kbps AAC/OPUS and has DRC applied, i.e. no bueno). Do you know if they've been released in better quality somewhere else perhaps?

Fortunately the person behind the channel has posted the 320kbps MP3s for download:
