GTA4 - Best GPU

Small point people... This games often uses less than 10% CPU usage on my i7 quad.

I monitor the usage on my second display. My quad just sits there almost asleep with CPU usage sometimes dropping to 4%. It's nearly all about GPU, Gurusan is right. And if i have my i7 at stock or over 4GHz theres NO difference to gameplay.

Some games have a slight difference with a quad but if you have a high clocked dual core it's easily enough for GTA4.

I run this game at 2560x1600 on the highest possible settings, and highest texture settings by disabling the in game memory limit. I get atleast 50FPS with a GTX295.

Long story short, you need a decent CPU, but a good graphics card with more than 512MB.

People have been saying my 2 ati radeon 4850's are good enough and not worth upgrading yet.

I should receive my intel board back soon, I'll retry my e8500 in it if it doesn't work I'll get a 2.66GHz.

this is my AMD based Pc

I took most of my parts from the intel and used on the amd. I say most I used the gpu's.

now if I moved the both gpu's to the intel and get an x2 series based card (ati or nvidea) you think it shall let me increase everything to high and the distances and so worth to full?

Any of the guys with dual cores get big drops when things get hectic ?

When testing E6750 @ 3.6GHz yes, I checked % activity on both cores during and they were working very hard, peaking at 100% & 97% respectively. However I'm quite sure a Dual Core Wolfdale clocked beyond 4GHz+ will cope dam site better when things become hectic, unless you know otherwise from own experience?

Only between my X2 6000+ and Q6600. The X2 pretty much ran the game like the 360, stable frame rate until the cops come in heavy (helicopters, multiple cars all driving at me, loads of gun fire). On the Q6600 its smooth all the time, dont think ive ever seen a big drop while playing.

My E8400 @ 8.5 x 500 does not struggle ever in this game, with rain, heli's and cops etc etc
I can only play @ 1280x1024 with this monitor though; even still I don't think bumping the res up would effect the cpu would it?

One thing I do know you do need a minimum of 1gb vidmem for the high textures.
This was the only reason why I didn't just crossfire my old hd4850 512mb.
