Had this problem for a while, but after reading stories from other people who have the same problem I really couldn't be bothered to waste time trying to get help from the nubs
at Windows Live.

Well today I did and my god how the stories were so true. First off you have to phone "Live" no email address given, seems Microsoft thinks it 1980 LOL then you have to tell a nub that it's not an Xbox problem its a PC problem and then the confusion starts. First off I had to repeat myself many times as if a PC was some strange alien technology, might have been easier asking for support on the Doctors Tardis. but the real icing on the cake was the telephone number given to by them to call for PC support turned out to be for a company called Envoy which is for gas emergency's.

When I phoned back another nub gave me the same telephone again, so I asked why Microsoft feels that my CD key problem can be fixed by a gas company, the confusion got worse.
there ended up given me a premium rate number which I have chosen not to use, because I refuse to waste time and now money on such stupid and bizarre morons.:(

So sadly my story about this problem is even worse then the ones I read about and I still cant play my old saved game or play online. And by the way I have reinstalled this game 4 times
the time it stopped working was when a changed to Windows 7, funny really that Microsoft would stop me playing a Windows Live game when I upgrade my Windows OS.:(

If there is any one here who knows of a way to fix this issue without endless hours talking to nubs I would appreciate it.

try the securicom website, they have a revoke utility to claim back a license. Crap system if you have no internet access...

From what I read, you have to call them again and be asked to be escalated to a Games for Windows specialist. Try that. Or ask to be escalated/be able to speak to a supervisor.

If I ever get hold of Bill Gates, I'm going to dismantle and ram his crappy console piece by piece down his pencil neck.
You ever heard of steam, Bill? It's a good job the pc is an open platform with these f*ckwits in charge.

Quoted for truth

Then pirate everything else they release until they stop adding these ridiculous install limits.

Some day they might learn that i'm not paying them £30 to rent my game, then have to waste time to potentially not even get my usages back, when the alternative is to pirate it for free and get none of this hastle.

There seem to be more problems with this game than good bits, and considering the huge number of good bits in the game, that's really saying something.

Games for Windows Live is simply beyond redemption, I remember trying to use it at first, (becuase it won't let you play the game otherwise, and don't even get me started on the Rock Star Social Club) GFWL has an update -

Ok yes update

(much waiting later)

Update failed

Fail, never again.

The level of awfulness in Games for Windows Live is breathtaking, I have not or ever will buy a game that's involved with these nubs. I did get a copy of Dirt 2 for Christmas and the level off fear
I got when I noticed the Live logo on the box was deeply shocking.

Its very difficult to be against pirating when this is what a real paying customer has to put with, no game to play, no help, support and a telephone number for a gas company.

0800 281 360 is the number given to me twice by the nubs for PC support for Games for Windows Live.

That's the Austrian GFWL support number

You want this one:

0800 587 1102
or +44 20 7365 9792 from a mobile phone

Hours of operation:
Monday-Friday: 09:00-22:00
Saturday: 09:00-20:00
Sunday: 09:00-17:00

Still got half an hour to make the call tonight if you spot this in time.

Thanks but that's the number I used, and both times they said they don't support PC games and to phone the gas company instead.:(
