gta4 on new pc but not smooth??

Never managed to get it to run well on PC. That said, it's still leagues ahead of the blurry stuttering console mess.

Changing the settings made almost no difference, it was only better when I used a nVidia GPU and overclocked the CPU as much as possible. Couldn't do much else, though EEFLC does appear to be smoother more often.

Here's hoping if PC ever gets GTAV it's not like that.

I thought it didnt as in the game when i go under the graphics menu, it just displays my crappy radeon hd 6550D onboard graphics.......

what a pitty!!! :-(

That's interesting man, could you download GPU-Z to check that Hybrid Crossfire is actually working - if so it should say something like 'Radeon 7550D + HD 6600' at the top. Give it a run and post a screenshot...

Believe it or not I can almost max it at 55fps on my 6950 with my i5 @ 4.6ghz. Some people with super power rigs get lower frames, it is an odd ball for sure.

This game was optimised for Core i7 + Nvidia GTX285 or better the key is Nvidia GPU with more than 1Gb VRam (the game needs 1.4GB VRam minimum for max everything @ 1920x1200) & more than 4 Cores with HT Enabled. Its one of the few PC games which uses HT to offer a smoother FPS.

I remember playing it on release with my Core i7-965XE + GTX260-216 & it ran pretty well due to the CPU but I could not max the Gfx until I bought a GTX480.

Ive never had any problems with GTA4. Apparently its not well optimized for PC but its always been pretty good on my rig's. It ran really smooth with a couple of the settings turned down before my upgrade but since upgrading to my sig rig, I can max it out and its silky smooth. Plus with an ENB it looks sweeeeeeeet.

If you can, I'd look at disabling that onboard gfx card and investing into a decent card or even SLI if you can. The difference in game performance would be night and day.
