Hey guys, could any crossfire users confirm it gives a noticable boost in GTA4 plz.

With my PC in sig i only get about 45 FPS at stock speed and if i go 4.6 on CPU and 1300/1900 on gpu i get it up to about 50 fps, im thinking about throwing another GPU in to smooth things out a little. I dont know if GTA 5 is based on the same engine but if it is, i'de like things a bit smoother than they currently run.

Cheers.

I didn't find it any smoother in honesty. I found the 1.04 patch to be better and smoother too

I turned settings down to about 70 ( particularly view distance and detail distance) this seemed to help things

Edit: I actually just ran with the one card in the end.

Broken game engine is broken. 4 titans wouldn't go much in the way to boosting frame rates. Tune some settings down until you find a payable sweet spot.

I can't play GTA Lost Episodes when in SLI. I have to disable SLI for it to work. Even then it plays a little choppy. GTA was never meant to be on PC. It was a after thought.

How many threads on the CPU? With my 2500k@4,5GHz I still get serious CPU bottleneck even at 5040x1050 on a 7950@1170/1600.

Kick down the shadows to medium or high (night shadows can be kept on very high) and detail/draw distance to around 50-70%.

If you have it on steam go in steam and on the properties of the game and set launch options as -memrestrict 629145600 for a much smoother experience. Keep shadows to high and night shadows i personally have off and distance slider i have is 75 the other two about 49 each, rest maxed with vsync off and it plays a lot smoother and keeps the fps up higher with the launch option above. I used to have a commandline but that doesnt seem to work i think with steam version as i had a similar option in a commandline file in the gta 4 directory but as i said i dont think it used it with steam version so anyhow give the setlaunch option thing a go and see if it helps.

Yeah, ive already done all of the above, i looked through GTA forums first and found all this out and set the game up accordingly but i just fancied it been a little smoother, but it sounds like crossfire aint the way to go for that, my system runs all my other games nice and smooth so ill leave it as it is for now.

Ta again.
