OK so there are quite a few out there now but this one is different and the aim is to be helpful to others.

Please state -

Your rig spec. CPU, CPU clock and GPU/S as well as the resolution you are playing it at. So for example -

3970x stock speed (so 4ghz)
Titan Black SLI stock EVGA Superclock speed
Performance = excellent.

This way we can garner exactly how much grunt this game takes at each resolution.

Good idea Andy, mind if I link the Official GTAV thread to this one? Might help a few of the posters out when it comes to "how will this rig run..."?

4790K @ 4.6 - GTX 780 SC - 8GB Corsair 2133.

Everything "Very High", No MSAA/TXAA. Increased draw distance by 30%, Increased Pop by 30%

I get between 80-120fps on a 120hz screen @ 1080p.

Yeah go for it mate.

I really must say that this game is just so full of win. It really runs so well even at 4k. And it's stunning. I walked down an alley way earlier today and three feral cats ran out and it sent a chill down my spine. They just looked so real !

What I find odd though is how little VRAM I seem to be using. IIRC I'm showing about 5gb at max settings which should be halved because I'm running SLI. Yet, I've seen people on 1080p using more

Very odd !

PC in sig

1440p, main graphics page all on very high. FXAA, no msaa, all distance sliders max. Advanced graphics page I left alone.

Only using two of my gpus at 1075mhz / 1250 mem and running vsync at 96hz never drops. Rain, Mid day, City, out of the city with all the trees and grass, I'm just stupid impressed.

Note: Sometimes it uses all of the threads on my 4930k and then sometimes when I play it only uses 8? Anyone else see that?

It's quite common.

Some levels on Crysis 3 used 8 cores on my AMD some only four. This is why there were a boatload of conflicting benchmarks.

Ah now I'm with you :)

Have ordered it on DVD me lad as my internet is pretty ****! First time I've done that for a few years!
I understand there are some fairly big patches though, so it still might take me a while.

Yeah the patch took me about an hour on 70mb optic. It started out OK around 5mb then dropped to about 80k.

3840x2160
GTX 970 (Stock)
All settings/sliders max'd apart from MSAA/Reflection MSAA which are off (No TXAA)

Average FPS for the 5 passes from in game bench:
X5650 @ 2.6GHz - 31.1, 20.8, 29.8, 32.0, 27.4
X5650 @ 3.7GHz - 31.4, 21.0, 30.9, 32.0, 27.7
2700K @ 3.7GHz - 30.9, 21.5, 30.2, 31.9, 27.2
2700K @ 4.6GHz - 30.9, 21.5, 29.7, 32.0, 27.0

Seem like CPU doesn't matter much at these settings :p

Good information and good to know.

I knew I shouldn't have listened to people saying this game had no problems with SLI

After testing today, using any amount of MSAA, even only x2 results in awful microstutter and judder.

If I use just FXAA it's often smooth as silk.

Brief specs:

i7 2660k at 4.5ghz
780Ti SLI, latest drivers specifically for GTA
Rog Swift monitor, Gsync running

With the settings I'm using, VRAM usage is not going over 2.5GB, so it's nothing to do with that. I'm running at 100hz to try and keep the framerate more consistent, but have tried at 120Hz too. Still stutter with MSAA.

Yet another game that doesn't run properly smooth when using SLI. I'll test on one card now just to be sure. Sigh.

I don't think the VRAM indicator in GTAV is even remotely accurate. I have the game maxed out on SLI and it's telling me for 4k I am using 5700mb which if you cut that in half that's less than 3gb a card. That, I think, is how it works in SLI. That's absolute max settings, 4k with 2XMSAA.

I think it's more just a complete guess tbh.

I will do some more testing later and post my findings. It was hard for me to set the game up because every time I changed something it would tell me it needed to restart and when it did none of the settings were staying put. Took me around five restarts to finally get it done.

Could work out vram usage the same way as AB does-Nvidia reports individual usage, AMD combined?

Leave your current 5700mb settings as they are and disable SLi and see if vram remains@5700mb?

Yeah will definitely do some more testing. Right now it's Chelcrap VS Man poo so once that's over I'll get it fired up :)

I can't make sense of the memory indicator in the graphics menu. But, I'm monitoring my actual cards stats on a second screen in a GPU widget like I always do. It never goes over 2.5GB VRAM with the settings I'm using and 2x MSAA, so it's defintely not a lack of VRAM issue.

All the games I have that have SLI issues, it's never anything to do with Vram. It's just yet another game with SLI problems.:mad:

I can live without any MSAA I guess, but I find in game FXAA to be too blurry. I much prefer SMAA, so am going to try the latest SweetFX....watch this space....

It could be rig specific. Nvidia released a driver for Dying Light. I installed it and it immediately broke SLI completely. The entire screen was flashing and strobing really badly. I tried going back to the old driver but that didn't work so I just put the new one back on and then used NVInspector (I think it was called that) to force on a profile for another game. It worked a treat.

However other than that I've had no problems with this SLI set up since I fitted it last year. Have you tried changing your bridge ? what bridge are you using? it could be that at fault tbh.

OK so today I ran FRAPS and recorded some frames. It seems I am getting a minimum of 38 FPS and a maximum of around 55 with it mostly running 43 or so. So not bad and I hear the latest patch has messed with SLI a little bit. Either way the game runs butter smooth considering the resolution and settings I am using (max everything 2xMSAA).

I would imagine Gsync is really helping me too.

Crossfire scaling.

God bless 4k :D

You should always have a pagefile. Even if you had 128GB ram certain programs are coded to use it.

Only issue is if you are using an SSD. Hosting a 128gb page file would mean you would need at least 256gb SSD just as your Windows boot drive.

I've got an 80gb SSD and have been on Windows 8 since it was first launched and I have about 74gb of my 80gb used now with 16gb ram.

I've just ordered a 256gb PCIE SSD just to be safe.

Some people are exaggerating I think...

I run TitanX SLI and have not had any lockups/crashes with the game.

Mine does do a weird thing when you exit the game though. I can't even really describe it. Blank screens all my monitors, I have to yank out one of the display cables to get a picture. Then I can at least see the windows desktop and my mouse moves around but I can't select anything and Ctrl+alt+del doesn't bring up Task manager.

I have to reboot the PC.

I've had absolutely no crashes. The only complaint I have is that I could swear the game was much faster pre patch.

Good point. Gta is all about concrete and running people over. Can you turn grass off all together?! Maybe a nice mod to turn it into gravel

I found one of those special cars with multi coloured paint job. It's fast, like real fast. Nothing better than getting it up to speed then ploughing through the board walk :D Here's my car here. Apologies for the rather naff heavily wrecked JPG.

OK been looking for some info but can't seem to find it on the WWW so I thought I would ask here.

How many PCs can you install this on? Any one know? or have installed it on more than one rig? I don't want to go through all of those discs to find it's only one I'd be devastated lol.

OK so I benchmarked GTAV on my Pentium. 1080p absolute max settings with 2XMSAA. I'm using about 3gb of the 6gb VRAM. Titan Black, CPU clocked to 4.2, VSYNC on (it was a stuttery mess without it oddly)

That's a 90 second run and was benched during the car race at the start (so through the city).

So basically I would say that a Pentium is more than good enough for GTAV, contrary to what some people may think. The min FPS also came as a bit of a stutter, but then please note I am only running 4gb of RAM in a 64 bit OS and GTAV recommends 8gb.
