Did a few hours on borderlands tonight exiting the game got some odd artifacts then PC locked rebooted and now theres blues lines all over the the place bios included and windows will only run at 800x600 so looks like at least one of them or bothe have died, went even running clocked at the time. Checked the loop no puddles anywhere so looks like they've failing.

Going to have to strip the loop down and investigate what's gone on. Any chance it might just be one or am I facing a big bill for loop rebuild new cards and blocks?

You'd have to be incredibly unlucky for both to die at the same time...

Quick fix time...

Remove power cables from one card and have the display cable connected to the card that still has power, remember to remove the sli bridge. Do this for them both and it should give you some indication as to which card has failed without breaking open your loop.

Well the only other thing I did was up the CPU pll v to 1.7 a few days ago to try to fix a cold boot bug, that wouldn't kill it would it?

Top one appears dying getting no display output on just bottom card but looks like my board appears to be hanging on the pcie light when only the bottom card is plugged in. After powering up after about half hour power isolated from main the display appears OK for around 2 min then starts artifactimg again

Having been up half the night at 5 this morning I got up and had another go. PC fired up booted to windows all good. Getting all excited thinking it just needed to cool down I rebooted and dropped into the bios and started to reset my clocks. Halfway through the display screwed again. Rebooted and the display was back to being awful again. My Phoebus soundcard also on an x16 slot shows up fine in windows so I don't think its the board or CPU but both 670s show with yellow exclamation marks and gpuz detects both as having no clocks and odd memory readings.

Last update theres good and bad news, Good news is ive been able to get the pc to boot off the igpu which has allowed me to take a look at the cards. Bad news is the top card is dead, second card appears to be ok though so thats something positive.

I guess the cheapest option is to drain the loop and scour the bay for a cheap 670 to replace the dead one with

What 670's do you have? It's entirely possible it will still be under warranty, though you'd be looking at a 760 as a replacement.

kfa2 stock 670s I doubt they would cover having a block on them. Getting a 760 wouldn't be a lot of good

Afaik kfa2 are ok with it provided nothing is damaged in doing so...though they do only cover a 2 year warranty but are UK based, so if still in warranty get the stock cooler back on and ship it back for rma...the worst they can say is no :)

If you got a 760...sell and grab another 670, alternatively sell your other 670 and grab another 760..

I think it is still a couple weeks under 2 years. Are the blocks for 670s the same as 760s? Also would I need the original packaging cause I think i binned that a year ago when I moved home

You don't have to send original packaging for an rma, just ensure its well packed :)

Depends which 760 they send you tbh, pcb varies on model.

So i dropped the loop and opened up the card

Big problem, looks like I had a tiny drip that I didnt notice mayhems pastel orange had smothered a vram chip. Im not expecting an rma as its my own fault but what are the chances that it will be ok after ive cleaned it up and left it to dry?

Only one way to find out mate :)

Clean it up the best you can, leave to dry out and refit the air cooler.

Got any pics of the effected area?

Pics no ive already cleaned most of it up.

Hoping for a good result as it was firing up ok when the chips were cold. Will keep you all informed

Looks like its gone :(

showing up a lot better in gpuz after the cleanup but not being recognized in nvcp. deffo learnt my lesson will be using 7/16ths on 1/2 barbs next time
