Hello,

Just wondering if someone could explain a bit about themes to me. I am using LXDE on Lubuntu and wanting to try out some different themes.

Given that LXDE is a GTK based environment does that mean that I can install any GTK 3.x theme from http://gnome-look.org/ ?

Do different themes have different hardware requirements? I'm worried about maxing out my Thinkpad R50e with its epic 756MB of RAM :)

Any help would be great.

Thanks for the reply :). Sounds like it is a bit more complicated than I thought at first.

I gave it a go installing the most popular theme I could find: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Zukitwo?content=140562

It has changed the panel at the bottom successfully but nothing about the windows has changed.

Oddly this tutorial suggests that you have to also install an OpenBox theme in order to get the window boarders to change. http://www.maketecheasier.com/theme-up-lubuntu/2011/02/11

But that doesn't seem to fit with the previews on gnome-look.org... or is that just a quirk of LXDE?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks a lot melvis I'll give the gtk2 theme section a go. Some of them look really good. :D

Also I found the option to make the panel at the bottom slightly transparent, I think that makes the default theme much nicer anyway.
