Hiya people!

I recently downloaded the GTR Evo demo from Steam as I am after a fairly realistic racing game which has real tracks on, namely the Nurburgring! Now I playing using a 360 controller and am not likely to get a wheel as I want to be able to play this when I am stuck in hotels for work etc but am finding the controls seem a bit off?

In the demo you only get brands hatch and 2 cars to choose from but it seems like there is either not enough lock or the car/game is prone to understeer unless you are on grass. Is this down to my controller configuration, the demo cars or is it just the way the game feels? I just can't get on with it as it seems as soon as you are actually moving the cars don't like turning in. If this is the way the game feels can anybody reccommend any alternatives that feel a bit better to play that have the Nurburgring on?

NS

i find the game real hard to control and in the end i took it back as i just didnt like the realistic effect they have tried using. i prefer the arcade style of driving game.

is there anything within the controls setup to adjust the cars response?

other than that i cant help sorry :(

A lot of people do seem to find that many of the cars understeer with the default setups. Personally I think that driving style accounts for a lot of it, but to an extent it's down to personal taste. You can set them up for less understeer so that you can take the corners with more speed / throttle, but the question of whether you will get faster lap times from it remains. :)

Techniques such as trail braking and left foot (although not possible with a 360 controller without XBCD) braking can help on certain cars and corners

You can set the lock in the car setup as well. There are probably a lot of combos where the default lock will probably be too low.

In addition to car setup it could be you just driving too aggresively and trying to take the corner fast than it is capable of. Without force feedback it takes a while to get used to finding the limits of how hard you can steer.

Try driving slower at first and use as little angle on the analogue stick as possible to get around the track and work your way up. This is what I used to do back when I raced with a pad on GTL and GTR2. I've got a G25 now though :D
