got gtr a couple of days ago, brill game :D but even with a ps2 joypad it is rock solid even at basic difficulty, so maybe i need a steering wheel so i can be better at it, but which steering wheel should i chose? But it MUST be a lap mounted wheel if at all possible.thanx in advance

Driving force pro, without a doubt, brilliant wheel, quality solid feel, good FFB, super customisable, no matter how fussy you are you are likely to find a set up that suits you, very comfortable wheel as well.
before this i had a madkatz MC2 wheel with an Xbox to usb adapter,i was very skeptical about the hype surrounding the DFP i just didnt think it'd be that much difference, BOY was i wrong, like night and day, it totally transformed my sim racing, so much more control.
and as said above you can get the lap attachment if need so.

no better or worse than any others i've tryed, it works and it works well, it might feel a bit twitchy at first as it dosnt have as long a throw as other shifters i've played with, but after about 5 minutes of using it it just feels natural, its in a comfortable position as well, i always use the stick shift, paddleshift just feels weird for me.

that said i'm strongly considering buying an H-patern shifter:p

Hmm I'm quite tempted now. I'm currently using a Formula Force GP wheel - not the best wheel in the world, so I'm hoping the DFP will be a significant step-up in terms of quality and performance :)

yes same idea as a car shifter, kinda adds to the immersion.
there are a few companies making shifters at the moment, but none come cheap.
if you are still intrested ACT labs are rereleasing there shifter shortly, i think they are taking preorders at the moment actually.

other companies to look at are FREX and TSW(both very expensive)

i'm thinking of buying second hand or trying to build one myself, i'm always up for a challenge, and i've seen a few guides taking you through the steps, hell its gotta turnout a hell of a lot cheaper anyway.
