Just a word of warning guys. It has been announced that you can now register your DVD copy of GTR2 on Steam and download it through there instead. Whilst this is handy as a backup, it appears that due to some licensing wrangles, any reference to Porsche or Ferrari has been removed so cars, events etc.
Even adding in mods that use base assets for theses marques are greyed out in game and unplayable.
The content is actually visible in the file structure btw.
There is currently no fix for this, folks on NoGrip have tried copying over content from the DVD but this does not appear to work either.
So stick to your DVD copy until someone figures out how to get round the blocked content.

Does this mean my DVD copy is now useless because you registered it? (ie. can I bin it or do you want the physical disk?)

The DVD version should still work. Simbin have just nerfed the Steam release in some way to avoid getting into legal trouble. The key is just a multiplayer key afaik.
So if you're still offering the disk as an xmas pressie mate then I'll still take it off your hands if you're offering..... :)
