GTS + e6600, or GTX+ e6300

3.2 on air at just a little over stock volts on my E6300. could do more but my ram craps out.
 
E6300 + GTX. :)

The GTX is better than the GTS, maybe just enough to warrant the extra price (?). The Core 2 Duo can be clocked like a beast, at least 3GHz on air, and will be awsome. :D

I thin I'm going along with the general vibe of this thread. :)
 
just got a question, how much difference in gaming in fps would there be between in a Stock e6300 or an oc'ed one to about 2.8ghz? going with either a gts or gtx? i heard e6300 were pretty good at stock, around the level of an AMD X2 5000.

LOL lots and lots, esp with any 8800.

3.6ghz+ Ghz Conroes bottleneck, so a 6300+ will.

for around the same outlay.

As his initial post said no overclocking thats what I based my advice on. If moneys no object then go the whole hog and GTX + 6600, if your confident at O/c then 6300 + GTX.

Theres pros and cons to it all, money, ability etc etc

I don't think the BFG 8800GTS that overs are doing for £299inc vat is overpriced imo.
 
BUT...

The 8800 GTS is replacing the 7900GT why is there such a big price difference(£100) from when the 7900GT was first released?

Same for the GTX.

Before you say it's a new architecture, So was the 7900 series when it was released.

and how come inno3D and POV sell their GTX's for £399 when the rest sell theirs for £450+??? it's exactly the same card.

warranty differences....u get better warranty and you pay for it.

IIRC, the only architectural difference from a 7800 was a die shrink, from 110nm to 90nm.

The 8800 is a brand spanking new architecture, designed from the ground up. :)
 
I knew somebody would fall for that lol :)

Well then from the initial price of the 7800 series then :)

Is the warrenty worth it though? most people (on here) upgrade every chance they get.
