I am thinking of getting a 8800 (don't we all  ) but I cant decide which one to get. now I would only go for evga or bfg (only casue of customer support) but not sure if the money i will shell out on gtx gonna be worth it. reason for getting 8800 - to play crysis (whenever its gonna get released) and other good games. Would like to play BF2 with all eye candy to max. my vdu max resolution is 19" 1600x1200 and I'm not planning to invest into a bigger monitor. money are somewhat an issue but if I have to I will pay extra 150 quid for gtx. plz help me decide, ty

I would get the gtx if you are gaming at 1600x1200 tbh, currently running a gts on a 20" widescreen tft rez of 1680x1050 and no probs with bf games but i feel the extra performance of the gtx would be good.

All was fine when i was on the 19"crt as you could drop the rez to suit as not all games run mint at the rez above on the tft, so i may even flog this and get the gtx for the extra power it has.

Do you have a TFT or CRT? If it's CRT you won't need to use AA, which is a good performance hit

LOL sorry but i always had to use AA with a 19" crt or it looks damned ugly with jaggies also on my sony triniton 21" i had to use it, on 2142 i play in 1680x1050 cpu is a [email protected], gfx stock 8xssaa 16af and i can see some slow down in heavy areas.

A gts can't be clocked to the same performance as a gtx even if they are identical clock speeds the gtx has 128 Stream Processors and the gts has 96 so the gtx will always be one step ahead.

its a crt 19" dell trinitron. hmm, i'm baffled now, gts or gtx?? dunno about turning aa down on crt, me I always needed it on (2x) when i played bf2 on my old x800xt, otherwise the game would look rather ugly. I don't play bf2142 btw, never liked the demo tbh, plus I'm too much of a lone wolf - jet and seat switching helo whore, bf2142 requires too much of team work. I think I will go with gts and keep my fingers crossed that it can play crysis at high end medium setting. if I'm not happy with the performance I can always sell it on that popular auction site and get myself newer g80 release (hopefully 8900 will be released by then).

ty for all your responses btw, you people don't sleep long, do you ? ;) (just woken up)
