so my friend is talking a lot of smack nowadays. and recently he started saying he would get another bfg 640 mb so he had sli.

ive told him i want to get a gtx, but hes 'certain' the gts sli set up will 'obliterate' and 'anhilate' my gtx to be.

a time where he is right cannot be permitted, so is it possible to overclock the gtx to match or beat the gts sli set up?

the advantage to me is that i have a Q6600, and he has an E6320 (but that wont exactly bottleneck him much)

Yeah they will be faster, but only in games that utilise SLi, so id still say the GTX is the much better card, single card that will use less power than the 2x GTS's, will give out less heat, and wont have to run un SLi'd games as a single GTS. :)

oh yeah, i mean i know the benefits of one card over 2 anyday of the week. and to be honest i really dont care (hes a total nublet).

.....but i MUST BEAT HIM

is it faster by a massive percentage? say at 16x10 res

i cant have any 8800 series sli on my mobo, the p5ne-sli

the second pci-e slot, if used by an 8800, would completely cover the sata ports, all 4 of them (or 6?)

the board was designed for lower end sli set ups, not really 8800's

god damn him...

ULTRA it is then...

lol you might be him but your being a bit silly about it if you ask me. :p

Get a GTX and be happy. :)

the whole point of this overclocking business is to have a better set up than someone else though...

we all spend crazy amounts of money on set ups that are dictated simply by a 3dmark score.

if we have the money to use. go for it i say

Pointless tbh trying to beat someone, get a GTX and be happy with it instead of wasting your money on an Ultra.
