Is there any benefit in choosing a G92 GTS over the 3870 at 22"?

I currently have 17" but was thinking if i save up to £65 going for a 3870 rather than a GTS i can put this towards a 22" (my bro just got one and now i'm jealous ) unless i would notice a significant performance increase at 22" by spending the extra on the GTS.

If you have a choice of a GTS on a 17" monitor OR a 3870 on a 22", go for the latter. The GTS is almost certainly overkill on a 17". The GTS is a faster card but the 3870 will run a 1680x1050 resolution without problems, depending on game and settings.

I agree, it is worth going with the slower 3870 and getting a larger screen. Games will still be pretty good just might have to go a bit easy on some of the settings.

yeh i bought a 22inch about 5 months ago, best upgrade ever and my hd2900 runs everything full (dont use AA, or play crysis) so the 3870 should be able to cope with most things.

3870 is a great card to have on 22" monitor. I have a 3850 and that plays all games at high settings (apart from Crysis which plays well on Medium) at 1680x1050 resolution.

I also own an 8800GTX and to be honnest there is very little real difference between the two for gaming on a 22" screen. Sure the GTX is faster in benchmarks and can run higher levels of AA but the 38x0 cards do a very good job.

Do u use the 3870 with any AA on 22", would definitely like the eye candy?

got the 8800gts512 and a 22" and playing ut3 with everything maxed, smooth frames off and no vert sync im getting constant 60+fps, rarely ever dips below and if it does ive only seen it as low as 45 :P rocks my socks tht card does :D

Couldn't you go for a 20" with a 8800GTS? Or as previously stated a 8800GT and the 22", 8800GT is still better than a 3870 by a nice amount.

I would go with a 8800GT and a 22" myself, heck my 8800GT runs all my games great even at 1920x1080.

I guess the question is would i notice much difference between using a GTS or a 3870 on a 22" especially given that an 3870 can be had for £135 whereas the GTS is at least £195. I could spend the extra if i'm gonna be able to turn on loads more AA but otherwise not sure its worth it tbh

Not really...I'd still spend a bit extra on a 8800GT though, I don't see why it's between the 3870 and GTS only.

As said, I run the likes of CoD4 with 4xAA, TF2/Half Life 2 at 16xCSAA and so on, on my 8800GT at 1920x1080, it copes fine if that's an indication of what card to go for.
