gts250

Should be a smidgen cheaper.

But I hope you're not thinking of upgrading from an 8800GTS or 9800GTX.

ati have judged the market spot on at the moment.even waitrose are cutting prices so there's still hope for green to follow but don't hold that breath for to long.

I have to admit to being a bit tempted with getting three 9800+ GTX cards.. it's only after seeing poor benchmarks with FarCry 2 that has stopped me.

I'm waiting for the GTX260 55mm max core to get EOL'd... two would go quite nicely :D

The 8800GT in SLI manages FarCry 2 at High on my 24". I'll just have to be paitent!

I was under the impression that tri SLi is very buggy. You often get maximum frame rates which are a lot higher than standard SLi, but minimum frame rates which are a lot lower. So the 2 cards beat the 3, as silly as that sounds.

Yup.. CPU overhead on tri-SLI is ridiculous, so minimum framerate suffers badly. In games that have heavy CPU usage, tri-sli can be a downgrade.

Anandtech did some very interesting 2-way, 3-way and 4-way SLI and Crossfire comparison articles recently...

The reason I went for a quad core over a dually was to make sure I had enough horsepower for SLI but three cards is a bit over the top... even if they do cost near £100 each!!
