My son bought a new tv and the only way he could connect it to his pc is with a dp to hdmi cable. to cut a long story short he cant get a picture on the tv.

He has two monitors working, one with dvi, the other hdmi. When the dp to hdmi is plugged in to the tv the monitors go off.

We tried detecting with no joy, also tried the dp cable to a monitor with no joy. Is it possible the cables just duff?

When you're trying tv and monitor, is the monitor hdmi?
Its possible that the is only one DVI lane, and thats being assigned to either the DP to the TV, or to the monitor, but not to both.
I used to have a HD6850. If I used the DVI to HDMI it stopped one of my other 2 monitors working. The card had 2 HDMI, one DVI and one DP. It could only do 2 monitors for me as it only had 2 DVI lanes and I didn't have a native DP monitor.
