The recently released 1080/70 have shown that Nvidia isn't adverse to milking the consumer. Are we looking at the GTX1060 priced in the £250-299?

I reckon 1060 will be aimed at current 970 owners. So expect price/performance to match whatever that takes to make an upgrade seem tempting.

That's what the 1070 is aimed at, they are simply milking the consumer while supply is low. I expect the price of the 1070/1080 to fall faster than any card has for years.

There is no rush for the 1060, existing cards have the same performance or greater and they still need to sell the remaining inventories, which are probably substantial at this point, still. By the time the 1060 arrives I expect it to be priced in line with its 960 variants, this is a segment that can't be milked, so there is no incentive to rush it to market.

I like you.

If you look at OCUK's sites, every 1070 is 'pre-order' only with no stock in, founders are all sold out. Watch the prices drop when the real cards release next month. I honestly don't know why everyones so up in arms at the prices we see at the minute. The founders buyers need milking, who's going to buy those cards for £400+ when the customs are shown to us to cost less (300-400£) which they will once the actual line up of 1070s hit the shelves.

i thought that was the 1070 lol ? why would 970 owner downgrade to 1060 that should be around 970 performance ?
Nvidia's 10series pricing failed, it's as simple as that, and mostly because of AMD, that make their line up look like out of place performance/$ wise in mid range.
970 looking for upgrade have to go to 1070, and spend 100-150£ more, 1060 is destined to 950/960 owners that can move up to 970 performance, knowing nvidia price should be at 200-250£

While i dont like the 1000 series pricing as imo its high it doesnt seem to of failed as many cards seem to be sold out , If sales stop i'm sure prices will be readjusted

thats a cool way to look at things, but my bias tells me the cards are sold out because there is not enough stock in the first place.
from what i saw so far, a good chunk of enthusiasts seem a lot less excited about the 1080 than the Tx/Ti, so i dont expect the market to be as big.

Look at the pricing, the 1070 is nowhere near the 970 replacement. The 1060 should still be a decent step up from a 970 judging by 1080/1070 performance.
