Well my full spec is in my sig. I have tried to play Fallout 4 on ultra, but keep getting dips to 40fps or lower. Is it due to new drivers for the GTX 1070 not being optimised?

CPU, GPU and RAM usage all not peaking 100% usage.

Edit: Oh and res set to 1080p, so nothing over the top....

Ultra with Shadow Distance at Medium and you'll be very surprised. ;)

HBAO+ is also very demanding in F4 over SSAO. [~20% gpu usage increase alone at 2560-1440] I get locked 60 with vsync without any hitches with SD at medium, that would mean constant 60+ fps.

Do you guys have to wait 3 days until your post shows up? If it ever shows

Yeah just stick godrays on low, kills performance for very little visual beneift. But other than that its bethesda using the same crap 5 year old game engine.

I'm playing it on 1440p with same issue, generally maintains 60fps but with the odd dip. Godrays down is a good suggestion, a big one for me is changing HBAO+ to SSAO, made a very big difference in framerate and to be honest I think the SSAO looks better.

Same as my 4.2 i5 Ivy bridge (on 1600 memory) and 1070. Nothing wrong with my system. I was matching the non-i7 980ti scores for Firestrike when I tested it.

Unfortunately I can't find the relatively recent Eurogamer article to link on their thoughts on how big a boost hyper threading and memory give F4. It might have been the is-the-2500-past-it? article. They effectively said you can't lock 60fps without Skylake or >4 threads.

Curious and off topic, what Vcore did you need for 4.2? I was at 4.4Ghz @ 1.3v but has issues. Now testing 4.2Ghz at 1.2v.

Hmm it seems F4 is demanding on the CPU. However my CPU is never at 100% usage. I have been looking into a 3770k upgrade at a later stage to complete my build. But dunno if it would be worth it?

It's just so frustrating that you can play for an hour 60fps then at a certain point constant 40fps in that one area....

I have 22 hours play time on F4 but not really got into it. If it ain't for the constant FPS issues my game save corrupted and I had to start over. I really cbf to play it anymore. So much so ive just started Max Payne 3, looks lovely, constant 60FPS and great story so far....

A very underrated game if you ask me, also excellent graphics and ageing very well. Only issue is the loading times during cut scenes, reduces replay value as you have to wait forever for it to allow you to skip. Very frustrating on 2nd/3rd playthrough.

Also the closest you'll get to Red Dead Redemption on PC (for now anyway) as the combat system is close to identical. :p

Have heard that it gets very repetitive after a short while, do you agree?

Ive not found loading any issue at all? I am running of an SSD though.

I loved Max Payne 1 and 2 to bits. 3 has the same Max Payne feels, which is great. I mean it's a shooter and in some cases you get bored with the amount of AI that swarm towards you. However all the story telling and cutscenes are rare in todays games imo. The atmosphere is great!

If you like Max 1 and 2 then you will like 3!

Not in the first playthrough, I absolutely loved the combat system and weapons though.

All the loading times are embedded into the cut scenes, you won't notice any issues if you're not trying to skip them. To be fair I don't have it on my SSD but I'd be surprised if it made a huge difference.

i don't know how the 980ti performs compared to the 1070 but i've got everything maxed out at 1080P including all maximum distances and ultra godrays and shadows and lock at a constant 60.

are you getting dips from moving areas, shooting or just in general.

what area are you getting 40fps

. Only issue is the loading times

I've recently gone back to Dead Rising 3 as I was unsure why I'd never completed it and found it is the loading times after death, There atrocius, I'm stuck at a set piece boss style battle with some mechanical loaders and I can't seem to get past them, add to that how reloading takes longer than it takes them to kill me and I remember why I gave up on the game in the first place, Generally I have good loading times even though the actual games are on a hard drive, I haven't completed Max Payne 3 either and am now wondering if that was for the same reason..

what area are you getting 40fps

Just outside of Dimond City for one, where the lake/pond is? Amoung other built up areas.

1.196 according to cpuz.

Sweet, I am currently testing 1.200

I bought DR3 in the summer sale, what a horrible game. The FPS drops and loading times were horrible. DR1 was great, DR2 was ok....

Good news is DR1 should be remastered soon, buy that. You will be well impressed!

i think its somthing else

my 1070 gets me 55-60 fps on a 1440p monitor, everything absolute maxed out, so at 1080p you should be getting way past me, something like 80fps+ on a 1070 as 1080p is kinda low res, I would check your driver/patches and graphics settings....
