GTX 1070 - any takers?

Maybe, depending on the price of custom cards and how it stacks up against the 980 Ti overclock vs overclock (I suspect it'll fall behind somewhat). Otherwise I might pick up a cheap 980 Ti from eBay or wait and see what Polaris offers.
 
initial reports show that it's going to be around 980ti performance or better.
I think price wise it should be £400 for a decent version (asus/msi), which would make it cheaper than 980ti.
 
Yes, looks like a great price/performance ratio based on the leaks (we'll find out for certain when the reviews hit tomorrow)

Currently deciding whether to get 1 or 2... will probably get 1 and then maybe add another later
 
I think it will struggle to match a 980ti at the start at least. The 1080 has 33.3% more cores than 1070 and faster memory and is at best ~30% faster than 980ti. The gap become even lower OC V OC.

Originally I want to get a 1070, but as the new of it being only 3/4 of a 1080 emerged , I was no longer interested.

big mistake by nvidia IF the 1070 is below the 980Ti imo, unless they are artificially going to keep the prices high for the 980Ti / remove them from the market

I have no doubt that it'll be on par or slightly ahead at stock and compared to a stock 980 Ti. But the 980 Ti gains ground on a 1080 once you start overclocking both, so it's obviously going to be the same situation here, amplified due to an even bigger CUDA core deficit on the 1070's part. I doubt that an overclocked 1070 will match an overclocked 980 Ti, but I'd be happy to be proved wrong.
 
Only thing matters how OC 1070@2000 (+/- 50) gonna fare compared to 980ti@1500 (+/- 50). Judging by Fire Strike results it flops magnificently.
While 980ti on Ebay starting to go ever so low as £360, it is becoming unreasonable to waste more than £350 on decent 1070.
 
As a 970 owner there's been a few recent games where it can't quite keep up, so yeah I'm interested in a 1070. Depends how much I can sell my 970 for and how much a decent 1070 is.
 
I think 1070 is going to have much better price/performance after the Fools/Foundry/Frottle Edition 1080 price gouge which took care of all the early adopting mugs who can't wait five minutes for anything.
 
nah think ill wait for the amd equivalent. from sounds of it it should be a lot cheaper. or even wait for the other side of xmas when there should be other cards out.

Basically that was the case with all x70 skus - 970/770/670/570 (few quids here and there notwithstanding), with standout exception - 470 which was commanding 30-40 quid premium, but was on totally rubbish node, released almost one year late, haunted by bumpgate and swiftly replaced by 570.
