GTX 1080 Benchmarked

Benchmark: 1080 vs 980-Ti Watercooled on 3dMark11 self.nvidia
Submitted 4 hours ago by XenthorX
Hey everyone, i guess lot's of people have seen the various benchmark coming out today. Fortunately i owe a 5820K and a benchmark on 3dmark11 leaked with the same processor.
I tried to drop my CPU core to match the benchmark, and had to go as low as 3Ghz per core. (retail is 3.3Ghz).
Here is my 3dMark11 link:
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/11224550
980-Ti is 1495Mhz Core, 3950Mhz Memory which is a pretty solid overclock of 37% over retail boost clock of 1090Mhz.
The Graphic score is 26 827.
From the 1080 Benchmark that leaked on videocardz.com, 1080 delivers 27683.
It's therefore a 3% increased (again, i'm not sure of the frequency of their 5820K, i wasn't far from it with 3Ghz) over an highly overclocked 980-Ti.
Now what we can say if it's indeed a retail 1080, we're speaking of a 40% increase over the retail 980-Ti !!! If there's still room for overclock, you can easily imagin the beast that 1080 could be!!!

It's looking like if you already have a 980Ti then it's gonna be worth waiting for the Big Daddy's

It depends. 1080 was always going to be about 30-40% faster than 980Ti. 98t0Ti tend to clock about 30%. The question will be how much more does a 1080 overclock, and do you own a good or poor clocking 980Ti.

High end previous gen to mid-end next generation is never going to b the biggest performance jump but most 980Ti should see some reasonable gains if they use stock clocks or can match the overclocking.

The real win comes form 980 and below owners, where they get a card faster than a 980Ti for a lot less cash.

Yer but that's boring. Shiny is good but yer, big guns needed really.

Feel lucky Punk?? :p

If those numbers are true and the 1080 overclocks 20%+ and it is priced £400 or under it will be a good buy I suppose.

Still a little disappointing though overall, performance should be a little better considering the huge shrink. It now all depends on the pricing.
