Hello. My card is Gtx 1080 Ti FE. BUt i noted weird temps and clocks behaviour during tests.

I was testing all previous month my card in all games, benchmarks, there was some throttling with 86C temps and clocks was between 1500-1700mhz with THRM ( purple )perfcap reason gpuz. Today i am testing the same games, benchmarks, and temps are lower and clocks are 1700-1800 with perfcap reason PWR ( green ) . Any ideas why it changed? I am using the same case, the same pc components, and pc is in the same room.

The most weird is this. Today i see that fan speed on load is 60%. Yesterday and previous days it was 49%. He raised itself?! But how? I dont have installed OC programs, like Afterburner,Precision etc etc. Any ideas?
Maybe driver or card bios thing?

All time on drivers 378.92

All past month, my clocks during load in benchmarks was 1500-1650mhz. GPUZ shows THRM limit with max fan 49%. Today i run games, benchmarks clocks are 1700-1800mhz with 60% fan speed. Any ideas? Like i said i dont install programs OC. I dont change fan speed, because i dont have programs installed to do thi s.

In this moment run unigine heaven again, and this time fan speed 49% again and higher temps and THRM perfcap limit. Clocks again 1500-1650mhz. Weird.

I run morning UNIGINE HEAVEN and clocks was 1700-1800mhz with PWR limit on gpuz,no thermal.

Somebody said:"Try the card in a different computer to see if the problem follows the card. If it does then it is time to start a RMA."

So rma card?

Hi. Fast question.

Ok i just catched a screenshot,so last time:) Sorry if i bothering.

ook i made today a test fire strike and look on fan speed , it shouldnt be 59-60% on load on stock: It was 59% fan speed instead of 49% like always ,look:

Using 3dmark.

59% today. Yesterday was 49%.All is stock, default. No installed utilities. No Ai Suite,Afterburner,Precision etc. All stock ,default curve. Any ideas?

Somebody said that maybe bad fan controller?

Yes indeed . clock was up in 1750-1800mhz with that fan 60%.

So i am getting better performance with that. And there was not THERMAL LIMIT on gpuz. Only PWR LIMIT ( green field ) .

But whhen fan is on 49% i have clocks like 1600-1750mhz and gpuz showing THERMAL LIMIT. Weird?!

Its exactly like you said. For example.

Today - Running Unigine Heaven. Waiting 10 minutes and looking for fan speed. Its 49% and will go not higher till the end of benchmark.

Today but morning - Running again Unigine Heaven . Waiting 10 minutes and looking for fan speed. Now its 59% and will go not higher till the end of benchmark.

Somebody said about this ,here:

Can be faulty card?

Just ask. Temp target for 1080 Ti is 83C yes? Ok so why sometimes when my temps reach 86C gpuz reporting only PWR limit ( green field ) and no THRM limit.
Clocks are then higher, fan speed is 59% auto and card is louder. Its sometimes.

Mostly often when i run something, when temps reach 86C gpuz raporting THRM limit like it should be and fan speed is 49% then.

:"it seems like sometimes the card's going to 60% fan well before it hits thermal limit allowing higher clocks yet usually is unwilling to ramp over 50% even when the card hits 85C and chooses to downclock vs increase fan speed."

Yes exactly this. My card doing this itself sometimes. No worries?

I dont have installed any oc programs,no afterburner,no precision,no programs from mobo. 0. Card is 1080 TI FE on stock.

No installed Afterburner or Precision,0 utilities. Only fraps, gpuz, steam. Card is NO OC. So i am not tweaking card.
The most of time card working fine.
I mean on load: 83-84C temps, fan speed auto 49-50% and a small thermal throttle.
And default temperature target is 83C,which is normal.
Using the newest gpuz.

But....this issue coming after i left pc idling overnight. When i came back morning and run some game or benchmark card ( or driver?! ) ignoring or changing temperature target itself. Temps on load getting higher to 85C, clocks are higher and there is not gpuz thermal throttling. And card is louder than normal.

I am using 378.69 drivers. It is something with my card or just drivers? Thanks.
