£570 from NV store.

Right, some very very sketchy rough calcs on cores only and ignoring ALL other aspects of the cards:

2080ti = 4352 cores = 140% better than 1080ti
So in new style cuda core terms a 1080ti may have performance of about 4352/1.4 = 3100 cores

2080 = 2944 cores = 115% better than 1080ti
So in new style cores terms, a 1080Ti may have performance about 2944 / 1.15 = 2560 cores

So a 1080ti may be in the region of 2500 to 3000 newer style cuda cores.

A 2070 has 2304 cuda cores ... I would be surprised ( and very impressed ) if that betters a 1080Ti on non RTX performance.

So it has 8% less cores.

I think it's entirely possible that it could beat it when drivers are refined and we'll optimised.

well there's aways hardware async which those cards don't have.

Pascal have hardware async compute worked fine, Maxwell V2 have it but did not worked well with static partitioning load balancing.

Not every games used async compute, just very few games used it like the latest game Strange Brigade Techspot benchmarked it with async compute on and off.

HardOCP benchmarked Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Snipe Elite 4 with async compute on both Volta Titan V and Pascal GTX 1080 Ti.
