So due to personal circumstances I've not been on my pc much over the last few weeks however my friend offered me his 3090 for a very good price where I lost very little selling my 3080..

I thought I'd refer to my old benchmarks and try and do a quick comparison!

*Updated with 4070 Ti - slightly edging out the 3090 at 4k (where we know the Ti loses a bit of it's performance) whilst running a lot cooler and quieter... I guess at 1440p I can see this Ti being a good 20% faster or so than the 3090..

DOOM ETERNAL: - Again the test were taken is a more demanding scene with the 3080/3090 whilst in battle also. but I can verify the 3070/3060 Ti/2080 Ti/3080 could not play at 4k maxed out with Raytracing and hold 60ffps whilst in battle. Only the 3090 can achieve that..

Conclusion - Massively impressed with the founders edition.. I underestimated the size of the card and without looking at dimensions it feels/looks bigger than the FTW3 3080 I had previously... The cooler is impressive also.. quieter and cooler than the 3080.. though I did have a 450w bios on the 3080 so given the 3090 is around 10-15% faster than my heavily overclocked 3080 I'll take that.. also the 24gb Vram is so much better than the 10gb on the 3080..
The 3080 was/is a amazing card but I just felt 10gb was the limiting factor with card.. in some of the newer games I'm playing the 3090 is approx. 2x faster than my Titan Xp (2017 mode) which is impressive! Only thing that holds it back and I feel the cooler can handle more is the 400w limit.. I just wish it was 450-500 to hold a higher boost as at 4k it tends to sit low 1900 clock...Still with it costing me next to nothing after selling my 3080 it's a good upgrade for me! :D

Lovely stuff - Always interesting to see comparisons of a number of cards on the same machine.

Presumably the settings are the same in each instance?
They are indeed mate although the 3080/3090 were in separate parts of the game.. I also don't know why the 2080 Ti scores so well in days gone.. but yes the 8700k will be my next upgrade end of the year/beginning of next. Needles to say is 3090 worth the price over the 3080 nope but when I could get 3090 for a good price it's definitely worth it and then 24gb vram can really flex at 4k! :)

Apart from in Doom, the 9070 XT is faster than the 4070 Ti (which I think is a given) baring in mind I am running an older CPU and these are older games. I think in newer games the 9070 XT shines more for example BO6 100+fps 4k maxed out - with 16gb Vram, and the overall oomph of the card, it is consistently faster from what I remember with the 3090/4070 Ti. RT has improved massively as well (having had experience with the 6950 XT)
