Depends what resolution you're playing at and what quality settings you expect :)

In general it seems you should see a 20-30% improvement in frame rates. This might make a good difference at 4k or 3440x1440, but less so at anything less.
 
Can't answer your question direct, but answered indirectly - it surely has to be a daft move? Any improved performance just isn't enough to justify the cost of the swap.

I've said it before but it's not the upgrade for 980ti owners, unless they're the must-have-latest-shiny nutters you get on forums.

Tend to agree, those were my thoughts, might be better on a Benchmark or a few extrs FPS but playing a game I could see no difference.

Well max settings and not 4k :) actual gameplay not watching FPS.
