Used to be the new 6o was faster than last gens 70 with at least the same spec.

Although my 2070 is generally faster than my 1070, in some cases, ie Hitman-the 2070 is about a pubic hair faster than my 1070.:p

It doesn't make me want to return the V56 that I got today tbh. With the extra OC headroom on the V56, I think it's the better choice if you can power / cool it OK.

The RX590 is overpriced as well, although you can even pick up a nitro+ for 239 from OCUK compared to the 280 1660ti. (The 590 should have replaced the 580 imo at the same price.) Plus the AMD card comes with 3 decent games if people happen to care about that, and if not, can sell that stuff to further reduce the price.

Right now, the Vega 56 is by far the better deal.

(if they are closer to 250... it rapidly becomes a good option, but that's just my own opinion, and means I would actually be likely to buy one. Still smarts though that perf/price has barely moved... ******* crypto.)

Only one winner for a sub £300 card, and it is AMD, even more so with the free games

£259 isn't a terrible price imo £100 cheaper than a 1070 yes it's a near 3 year old card with 2gb Vram more but considering the situation were in. It's not bad! It's hardly any more expensive than a RX 590 whilst consistently faster than by a good margin and lower power consumption.
.the only issue is, the Vega 56 with the recent price cuts and 3 game bundle 2gb more Vram and consistently faster.

It depends on how long the £250 to £280 pricing can be maintained for Vega 56. They really need to get Navi out as quickly as possible IMHO.

Looking at the TPU review the TU116 is around 284MM2,which is around 40% larger than a GP106. So for 20% more shaders the die size has increased by 40% and the transistor count has increased from 4.4 billion to 6.6 billion!! So its not only the RT and Tensor cores which add to the die size,but the basic shaders have grown in size too.
